Image programs closing automatically

    On my laptop Photoshop and Nikon View both close themselves after seemingly starting ok. All the add-ins etc get loaded into Photoshop and then just as you think you can start to use it it closes itself.

    I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as using a program to automatically clean up the registry.

    The laptop is not and has never been connected to the net. OS is XP home with sp1.
    Anyone got any ideas on what the problem might be?
