Is the above fast for a processor? Might be buying a PC with an Anthlon processor 800 MHz, I was thinking of running a CD burner on it and a few web design packages ?? would it be okay ?

    thanks paddy

Depends on the OS and how much RAM you will be using, using Win2k with 512Mb RAM and all non neccesary services turned off it should be usable - dont expect a rocket ship though:D.

    It'll be fine paddyc.
Win2k will run very smoothly with just 256Megs and the uncessary services turned off.
WinXP, however, is a ram hog and for no good reason aside from a few asthetic features and roll-back functions.

    I'm running a 3.5 year old P3 800, 640Meg ram and Win2k Pro Service Pack 4.
Tis well sweet for what I use it for.
