Yup, played it on one of those arcade machines and once or twice on console. Wow, how games have progressed! :D

    It is what it's.

awwwh...paperboy..spent summers stuck in an arcade in tramore playing that.

And something called wonderboy aswell, he had a toga and snails somehow killed you by doing absolutley nothing at all except crossing your path.

Nah, that's pretty much the gist of it. You also had to throw the papers to the door and not through windows and stuff! I do believe there was a version of it available on Megadrive too.

You'd get points if you broke the windows of non-subscribers to the newspaper, which was a bit dark.

I remember there used to be a Nintendo propaganda cartoon called Captain N or something... and in one episode Captian N met paper boy, who turned out to be illiterate and wasn't able to read the papers he delivered.

But Paperboy had to save the day when the evil Mother Brain (From Metroid, I believe) used the news papers to hypnotise people, and paper boy not being able to read wasn't affected... it was one of those message shows I think... you know? don't learn to read kids, otherwise a giant brian might take over your mind...

That GAME magazine did an article on Paperboy this month in their Retro section, they talk about what a modern day sequel might be like.

Remember playing this on me C64, and every level had a little obstacle course/construction yard type thing at the end. I can almost hear the music now. God I loved that game, must really play it again on a modded xbox sometime methinks.

It got game of the year, dunno what year tho, I didn't think it was all that good myself. There was a paperboy II too.

Just looking at your collection of C64 games/software in that pic, Fabritzio, and I noticed Afterburner, Airwolf II, Paperboy (of course!), Codemaster's QUATTRO Arcade and Double Dragon, which are all games I had for my Amstrad CPC464. Also, I see you have Mini Office. I had Mini Office II which we actually learned to use in school on their CPC6128's.

As for Paperboy, I thought it was a great game. My sister used to love it as well and, along with the aforementioned Wonderboy which I also had, was her favorite game.

    Ah, memories! :D

Yeah Mossy Monk, Wonderboy was a pretty good game, though pretty difficult in places. My sister was way better at it than I was. In fact, when it came to the platformers and side-scrollers like Wonderboy, she always kicked my ass! Though, when it came to driving games and beat-em-up's I would have my revenge on her then! :D

Me and my sis first played Wonderboy in an arcade while on holidays in Ballybunion about 1987/88, roughly. After that, I tracked down a copy of the Amstrad conversion soon afterwards.

I actually have the Wonderboy Amstrad CPC ROM downloaded for the Caprice32 and Arnold CPC emulator. I play it occasionally to relive a bit of my wasted youth! :D

In the arcade version there was a bug. When you got to the end of monday and did the assault course, at the end there is a gap in the fence you could cycle through. Once through you got computer corruption on the screen but you could run the whole course again and again.

Saw a guy in the arcade clocking the machine doing that trick.

Paperboy & School Daze! What great games!

I miss those days of constantly changing my C64 tapes constantly. I thought I was the fa-shizzle with my C64 till I saw my mate's Amstrad! I was so jealous. Those were the days. :D

I hated the old lady that'd run after ya when ya smashed her windows, and the annoying skateboard kid, and the lawnmover....actually pretty much everything that got in your way hehe. Great game though :)

Have Paperboy for the original monochrome gameboy. I also see that Double Dragon has been remade for the GBA. Now that was a sucker that grapped my 10p's like nothing else...
