    I've started to put some of my pics of Dublin together on this page;
    http://eire.fotopic.net

I've attached one to give you an idea.

Let me know what you think,

I'm not sure if I like the black border around them, I personally think they would look much cleaner without it.

Was that "yeild" one really there? Cracked me up when I saw it.

    especially

    Masts - Three Rock Mountain
On the way to Prince William's Seat - Wicklow
Dun Laoghaire Harbour - From Killiney Hill

Were they taken with digital or 35mm?

If you click on the pic, it will bring you to the next one...

    > Were they taken with digital or 35mm?

All taken with a Powershot A80. I guess I am disapointing you ;)

You're not the first to tell me... I have to check how it looks without...

    > Was that "yeild" one really there?

It's still there! Just go to the last roundabout in the South County Business Park adjacent to the Sandyford Industrial Estate!

The Meercats at Dublin zoo make great photographic subjects.
My own photo of them is in the gallery at this site..and attached.

    Shame they're not in colour.

They look fine in B&W. Helps distance you shots from "holiday snaps" photography (B&W being pretty much exclusivley confined to fine art photography these days). Esp like the shot of the james joyce bridge.

    Good stuff.

The night time shots from Killiney hill might look better in colour. It would be interesting to see them, I presume you shoot in colour and then desaturate in PS?

    Slightly off topic...

I found this very nice tutorial to make great BW in Photoshop:
    http://194.100.88.243/petteri/pont/How_to/n_Digital_BW/n_Digital_BW/a_Digital_Black_and_White.html

I tried on some of my photos and it looks great...

A few answers to the questions:

I've bought the A80 just before christmas. It's my first digital camera. I also own a EOS30 but I haven't had much fun with it... The ability to take as many shots as you want in digital photography makes such a great difference.

I've only used a tripod for the night shots. Well, for the James Joyce Bridge pic, I've just put the camera down on the liffey wall. In those situations, the revolving LCD screen of the A80 is priceless!

I've been asked a few times for the color pictures taken from Kilinney Hill. They really don't look that good. Even with the "tungsten" white balance, the pictures look yellow-ish. The B&W ones have such a greater impact.

I use Paint Shop Pro (I've always used it and I can't bother learning Photoshop) and the channel mixer technique to convert to B&W.

Raphael, you pic is really cool, I must try that someday!!!

Nice work there, personally I think they would not look so hot in Colour (esp ones of Dublin at night) why? The lighting over Dublin from a height is quite horrific imo, the white light gives it a much better ambience.
