Luckily this one survived, wouldn't fancy having a wife in the monaghan area that is pregnant, even after a child had died en route to Cavan in an ambulance the health board still haven't re instated the maternity facilities in Monaghan.

Oh and did you see that the health boards had surplus's in their budgets for the last 2 years.

This country is one big ****ing joke, a life has no value anymore.

Guess what babies are born in ambulances all over the world and cars and taxis (note: soiling fee). This is nothing new. The problems in Cavan and Monaghan are largely down to a few specific individuals.

Some did, but not he NEHB as far as I know. Of course where in the budget wasn't spent. It's possible they had money set aside for something that didn't occur because of other factors, e.g. a building wasn't complete on time so obviously they wouldn't pay for work that wasn't complete.

Yes but wouldn't you rather your wife had her baby at a hospital rather than going to the local hospital and then being told "no hold on there love don't have it yet we have to send you to Cavan to have it"

They could have restructured the Budget then to open beds etc, thats a bit of a lame excuse for money not being spent while the Health service is one of the worst in Europe

Of course, it was a mistake. The personnel involved are no longer active.

"Hospital campaigns unite to fight Hanly
    11/02/2004 - 4:13:59 pm

Eight hospital action campaigns have decided to join forces to form a new national organisation to face down the Hanly reforms.

The National Hospitals Defence Campaign will fight against Government plans to centralise acute services and downgrade local hospitals.

The campaign has said it also has the support of a medical group representing rural GPs and rural community groups.

The organisations first major conference will be held in Kildare in March."

The decision of these local groups to merge shows they are capable of appreciating the benefits that come from centralisation. Such a pity their efforts will be directed at creating a demand for s***e little hospitals everywhere.
