I thought this would be the most apt place for this thread if i'm wrong feel free to move it and sorry :).

This girl from the uk(she's 17 years old) recently moved by herself to ireland. She is currently searching for employment and is living in accomdation and has funds to last her for the next month. She has been advised to sign on the dole by various people and my question is what is she entitled to and can she sign on at 17 ? also she only has her passport with her.I'm under the impression that the irish and uk welfare systems are linked so would the irish side have access to the uk verison of a prsi number?

Sorry if i seem a bit scattered, i'm tired as hell, thank you for any help :)

Has she signed up for a PPS number?
It should be as easy as going to her nearest local Social Welfare office, there's usually a window for applications for a PPS number, then once she has that she can go to the general enquiries window to find out if she is eligible for social welfare payments.
Not sure how it works if she has come over from england though.

Yes, there is an agreement in place. She'll still have to get an Irish PPS number though. Tell her to get down to the Welfare office and look into it asap.

She'll get bugger all dole money if she hasn't worked in the UK, your tax credits will carry over for benefits you see.

Don't you have to be 18 to get the dole as well?
