Does anyone know how you might go about setting up a linux box as a music jukebox without a monitor, mouse, or keyboard. With control being via a TV or alternatively another PC?

I really just need the box to work like one of those Imerge sound servers if any of you have seen them

Your help here would be great guys

    Thanks
    MONKi

I am just about to start working on one, I am going to try using MYTHTV possibly on top of Knoppix as there is a version of knoppix that has been modded for just this purpose !

I will probably go the extra step of doing the PVR part as soon as I get hold of a PVR-250 card.

I am going to use a Thunderbird 900, 756M Ram, 60 gig HD whth an aditional 120 gig once my new drive for my new box arrives, G-force 2 video card with TV out.

If I can get everything working well, I will give it a go with a mini-itx M1000 nemmiah core board in a crisp bag or some such funky case !

Yeah, i have my mind on doing this as well, should be easy enough, throw on slackware or whatever, build in infra red device support. and go from there, try checking out http://www.lirc.org/ Or you could also control it from another pc. Afaik there is alot of software around for this kind of stuff, u can controll xmms from command line or web http://xmmsd.sourceforge.net lots of ways to do it i guess
