Recording Sky and Terresterial

    Hello Folks,

Apologies if this has been asked before. I'm thinking of getting rid of NTL Basic and going to the Sky route (basic package).

At some point I'll also get a UK FTA card and will use a UHF aerial to get the 4 Irish stations.

Now, I'm guessing that the output of a Sky box is SCART? And the normal way to VCR programs is to connet this to your VCR. But of course using the aerial/sky will mean two connections, one scart and one co-axial?

If I want to tape programs is there any way/ a best way to be able to record say RTE1 one day and BBC2 another without swapping cables or buying a second VCR.

Or do I have to live with the "workaround"?

    Any suggestions or clarifications appreciated,

    nospamjl

All Sky boxes have both scart and RF sockets. They also have an RF in for your aeriel.
(AFAIK Grundig boxes have SVHS out as well, though I'd like to be corrected if I'm wrong)

A nasty workaround shouldn't be required.

You can connect both rf and scart inputs into the same vcr at the same time. To record off rte1 just select the channel it is tuned to and to record off the satellite box select AV in (or similar) on the vcr. You can also connect the sky box via rf as sceptre said, but the scart connector will give a better picture and stereo sound.
