windows explorer probelm[odd]

    Before i start this error is on WindowsME..
    i know..

    I had a problem with a trojan/browser hijacker..
    and i got rid of it (i think) but it has left an odd error in its wake..
    i can no longer see icons of objects in the C:\
    path or files in C:\Windows and the control panel ..

    while i explore elsewhere i have no problems seeing anything, the directories load as usual,

    These directories load, but the icons dont appear, all i see i the directory description at the side, saying the number of files etc..

    anyone have any suggestions* as to what may have caused this?



    *other than get a proper os
