    Just a quick one.

I've got a cheque from an Northern Rock bank account in England, can I bring this into my Bank of Ireland and get them to cash it?

Yea but you have to lodge the cheque and wait about a week for it to clear.

Should not be a problem, but they may fleece you on the exchange rate if it's a Sterling cheque. It may take a little longer to clear, but no longer than a week.
