I loved it actually - despite the fact that I have no idea what's going on... but that's the thing with his films isnt it? And I don't think it really matters if you dont understand it.
    Good brain melting fun:D

Loved it also - purchased the DVD. As to what it's about - there's a ton of theories on the web.

Watching it I thought it was just a lovely film. I didn't really have a clue what it was about. Read stuff on the web explaining it, and I have a vague idea of what it was about (
she was a failed actress dreaming during a drug fuelled masturbation session of what life might have been like. Sounds completely un-Lynch-like when it's put like that, doesn't it? ;)

I had a headache for a day after watching it.

Just when you thought you had it figured, Lynch fecks everything up in the middle and you're back to square minus one.
Confused the hell out of me, I've now blanked most of it from my memory and don't ever want to think about it again.

Here it is; and it IS!! She's goin' to a party. There's a crash. But there's no crash. It's a dream sequence, where all the characters within (cowboy, etc) are actually at the party at the end. I didn't get, nut of an ex made me watch it like 10 times. Good lesbian action though.............. WHAT?!! IT'S A JOKE!!

In that case, it's best you avoid most of his movies - he does tend to ramble dreamily around the place.

Also avoid something like Gus Van Sant's Elephan, which is a meditation rather than a Philip Marlowe novel... We ain't all in the style of Chinatown y'know.

Accepting that it's well acted and produced, that Lynch is a love/hate kinda director and of course you have the right to like his movies...to me it was just one more bit of proof that not only does David Lynch have his head up his arse but that he seems to really like the view.

David Lynch expresses himself thru films, you express yourself thru internet bulletin boards...............

I fecking hated it! If I wanted a series of random events and a story with no point at all, I have my life. It's not like the acting\directing was bad either. It's not that he couldn't have made a good film, he just didn't.

The fact that the movie comes up again and again in threads here on boards and elsewhere is a testament to it's power. As for it having no point and just being a series of random events? On the contrary it has so much to say about the nature of the movie business, dreams and the human psyche and the plot is so intricatley constructed that it's quite disconcerting but certainly not random.

At this point I must confess that I'm a big Lynch fan. Anyone interested should have a read of "Lynch on Lynch".

I enjoyed it, but lost highway i think was better. "everything comes full circle" is a notion he plays with alot in movies.
