Anyone know of any good books or DVD's for guitar tutorial?
Looking for something that will do the basics through to the more advanced stuff.
Saw a couple but they looked old and not very good.
Sorry if this has been asked before.
    Cheers

Well, if you're into rock I can recommend John Petrucci's Rock Disipline and Marty Friedman's Melodic control. As for books, I have Fretboard Logic and it seems pretty good. I just never actually bothered to sit down and run through it properly.

Yeah, John Petrucci's RD starts off fairly easily, just talking about stretching and then moving on to other things like picking techinques, chord construction, arpeggiation, things like that. Although, if you're a complete beginner and don't ahve a clue about guitars, it'll be too advanced and it'll move too fast.

You should look at some guitar magazines too. Guitar Techinques is good as NeMiSiS said.

I recently bought Tommy Emmanuel's acoustic guitar tutorial video after seeing him in concert in Galway. THE MAN IS A PHENOMENON!!!

You know when you see someone play and he makes you burst out laughing because he's so rediculously good? well that's Tommy Emmanuel. They call him the Thunder from Down Under ... and he bloddy well is.

Anyway, You can go to his website www.tommyemmanuel.com and order his video which is great ... it's not for beginners so you need to be fairly comfortable on the machine to begin with ... and be prepared to work your ass off.

Waltons and McCullough and Piggott in stephens green do excellent guitar tutorials. They both do books and videos and in McCullough and Piggot where I bought my first book I got a free cd with it so you were able to know what the song sounded like and how to tune your guitar.Im cant find the book anywhere but when I do I will post it.
