Just a quick question, I have a 400hz G4 laptop, its about a year or a bit more old. What i want to do is stick either a airport, or any other brand wireless card in it, now I note that mac same the G4 has a built in aerial. Does this mean that my one does? Any advice, thanks

Yep you should be "airport ready" i.e. you have the areial not the card

a 400MHz G4 laptop - sounds like the original G4 Powerbook Titanium? - which can have an Airport card added

this would hook seamlessly into the OS - although some people found the signal wasn't great from this machine (if it is the one you are talking about?)...

check this thread for some alternative options for PC Card card:

(bearing in mind which OS you are running)

It can be done, but with the first generation of G4 Powerbooks it's not very easy to fit the airport card. I had the first of the 500mhz G4 tiBooks and I would have had to do alot of dismantling to get an airport card in there.

You could look into using a third party card in the PC Card Slot.

I put an airport card into my titanium and was able to do it in 5 minutes. once you have the correct tools (available at any decent toolshop - they're an odd type of screwdriver with a 'star' shaped head... probably called 'star head screwdrivers'....) it's easy enough.
You can google for instructions on doing this ; start at the apple.com discussion forums.

don't pay someone to do it.... or at least if you are going to pay someone then pay me !;)
