I've no idea, I was just buying a stereo headset [they were the cheapest on Henry St] my friend asked about the P900 and they said it would be in today. They didnt have a price but would have sim-free prices today and the units themselves they said.

BTW Amazon.co.uk are selling sim-free for STG £499, so expect it to be over €700 sim-free here.

great - will have to see what their prices are

saw the P900 on amazon.co.uk - for a bit cheaper than the likes of mphone.co.uk and expansys.com - but they would only deliver mobiles to the UK even if they were SIM Free :(

    ok

first can you remove your sexist comments above post haste (this is a forum to discuss PDA and Mobile topics) - personally I think it is sad to see such chauvinistic beliefs still exist in this day and age

second - I called 3G store on Henry Street this afternoon, they said to call tomorrow, the one on Grafton St didn't have any information

Sorry, I did'nt mean to be offensive and I am NOT chauvinistic, when it comes to sales of technical items I have found that men know much more about the product and appear to have more interest and with MY experience thats a fact.

If i get anymore info on the P900, i will post it, the Vodafone shop in Naas is also working on the subject

Is that a sim free price or with a mobile company because it sounds a bit expensive

there are also plenty of men in technology stores who know SFA about the products they sell and lack any interest - have found many women who are up to speed on their product knowledge and / or will go and source more relevant info if asked trying to be as helpful as possible (in the same situation i've had men do the grunt 'n shrug instead!)

thank you for dealing with your post as swiftly as you did - let's all just stick to the scope of this board everyone will get along just fine :)

P.S. it's Sony Ericsson (no relation to the present English Football coach ;))

Saw this post and had to ask around in Waterfords mobile phone shops today to see if it was true, cause it's a sweet phone, and i'd love to have one. I went into both Vodafone and o2 shops, as well as 3G, and all 3 shops told me it'd be months before they'd be selling them. Could be they were lying to cover up lack of knowledge, but it still seems pretty doubtful that they'll be here anytime soon :dunno:

They are available everywhere already except Ireland, so they will be available this week.

FinoBlad - Where are you getting your information from, you sound very definite?. One shop told me it can take six months after a product arrives in UK to get to Ireland and a lot is put down to 'testing the product on our system'

    It will be March....

No insider info; all I know what the shop told me which I posted.
If you like, ring the phone number yourself and ask them [post the update please]

the latest is they will be €849 sim free and will be in tue/wed next week

Got mine...probably the only person in ireland with
a p900 on a ready to go account.

Its a really nice piece of equipment, but it takes
time to get used to the intricacies of it (and I've
always had an Ericsson or SEricsson). I was
under the impression that it was a phone with
a PDA tacked on, whereas now that I use it,
I think its a PDA with a phone tacked on.

    fair play!
how much on a ready to go account?

and where did you get it?/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭Stky10

Emmm kind of misunderstanding. I didnt get it
with a ready to go, I already had a ready to go,
bought the p900 off ebay unlocked, and wahey
    P900 on ready to go....

And to think that a year ago, I had a limitless
company phone that I could use and abuse..

It wasnt one of those deals that you pay for info on how to get a phone cheap, was it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 847 ✭✭✭FinoBlad

btw; the p900 has hit the shops

Saw the P900 today in Henry St , some initial improvement on the P800 - more user friendly on the buttons and it looks more slleeker, since it was'nt powered up. My local vodafone man was on to me today to say that they have been informed by Vodafone that it will be in the shops first week in March - price in the 570- 590 euro range - O2 will also have it around the same time

Eur 850 SIM Free is a tad on the pricey side... although wonder how much abuse the handset will undergo at the hands of Vodafone branding (the poor T610 suffered a lot :()?

here's some side by side shots taken at the launch:

    p800_p900_closed_ctia03_devices.ie.jpg

    p800_p900_open_ctia03_devices.ie.jpg

the P900 is a nice improvement compared to the P800 - it's more of a refinement / enhancement than a significant upgrade - defiantly a better fit design wise for the business user or 'mobile professional' as they term it ;)

What do you mean 'abuse by Vodafone'? what do they do to the phones before they brand them? I am glad they changed that puicy colour

well it's what they do during the branding and how they come out after - they are fine before hand :)

it could range from having a logo on the case with a Voda start up screen - to also taking over hardware buttons and menu items e.g. to direct you to Live! as often as possible

if you have a chance to sit an original Sony Ericsson T610 against a Vodafone 'banded' T610 you'll notice quite a difference in terms of button and menu takeover

    BrianG

P.S. you can edit the text quoted to focus in on the relevant bits before clicking Submit Reply so as to save everyone scrolling (so I just popped in to fix that for ya)

I, ve tried editing before but it wont allow me to do it,the page states 'I dont have permission' how do i edit?

there is a timeout on editing your posts - it's kinda short on boads.ie for some reason - so unless you try and edit withn that time period your post is locked

although when you hit the QUOTE link on a post your reply automatically inserts the post you are quoting above it - you can cut this quote down to just have the relevant bit included - rather than the entire post

when i'm replying to the last post in a thread i usually just hit reply - as (hopefully!) it's clear that i'm replying to the post jut above mine

Yes I see what you mean. You highlight what you DONT want and delete it amd that just leaves the revelant bit, is that correct?

I bought mine (unlocked SIM Free) in December on Ebay from a guy in Belfast. It worked great as ready to go for 3 weeks then packed in with a software bug. The error message "Wrong SIM Card" came up when I tried to switch it on. I searched google and found from www.expansys.co.uk forum, that other people got the same problem. So it's abviously a common enough problem that makes the handset un-useable for the unlucky people that get it.

It's under manufacturers guarantee - Sigma in Finglas are the company in Ireland that look after SE phone fixing. Posted it to them nearly 1 month ago - rang them yesterday to find out that it's been sent to England! I'll have to wait another week al least - So to put it mildly I'm not too happy!

Anyone else get this error on ther P900 ??

Would the same bug effect a phone with a providers sim ie, vodafone?surely thats one of the reasons they have them on test before they let them on the market

i know two people who've had trouble with Vodafone branded T610s - my original T610 has been grand though - so just because a handset is operator branded doesn't mean it would be any less prone to a failure...
