I found Budapest cheaper, but not as nice.
It's up to you really - if all you want to get out oof it is shopping then definitely Budapest, but if you want to see some sights, then Prague.

I've been to both cities twice, and I much prefer Budapest. Prague can be overrun by hordes of tourists. Budapest is a bit cheaper to eat and drink, for shopping I don't think there's any great difference in prices.

Prague would probably be a lot cheaper to fly to, though. Anyway both cities are beautiful, with plenty to see and do so you'll have a great time regardless of which you choose.

I visited both in a week about three years ago and preferred Prague. Budapest is nice though but I thought it was more a "see for a few days and then go back to Prague" kind of place. Neither place was overrun with tourists when I went but it was the middle of March.

Women are great in both (a reason on his own to go there) :D

If you go to Budapest in summer I advise you to go to see the Lake of Balaton which is about 1 hour drinving from the city and is very nice

I think I'd say Prague, even though they'll be a lot of tourists its still more beautiful. Its a smaller city than Budapest and you can walk around most of it, the big difference is that Budapest is big and busy and getting on with its own life, Prague is more geared to a realaxing stroll around.
