Gobstoppers is a too generic term - think gobstoppers - think Jaw-Breakers :D.

I remember they were the most fantastic things ever, layers of flavour over flavour, until you got to the chewing gum in the middle.

Problem was kids started choking on them, so I think they were banned - remember it was all over the papers etc. at the time.

Now for some reason I'd stock pilled about 25 packets (2 JBs per packet) in a jug at home, and my mother bought them off me and threw them all out. A dark day :(

funny you should mention that, I was just eating one there a minute ago, theyre not the gobstoppers of old, the ones i had were quite small, and could be bitter through after afew minutes. These were like wussey gobstoppers or something.... i think my brother brought them back from the US

you can still buy them, i remember seeing my sister not too long ago with one of them. but they suck now, they only have a few flavours on them not as many as they used to.

they were made by Willy Wonka, or at least someone using the name, when I lived in Canada I first found them. Same lads made nerds, dweebs and prob a few more which i couldn't get enough of back in the day. Haven't seen them in ages though

Sweet Factory still sell giant gobstoppers. They are enormous and take about 4 days to finish. Not as nice as jawbreakers though.

I remember getting them in packs of two, used to get one's called fireballs that were hot as hell and had to be removed from the mouth every 2 mins. Resulting in sticky hands face and total mess, quality times for all.

Remember people choking on them as well, these things were huge (when ur eight) I could just about get one in my mouth, any accidental swallowing would not be good.

Got one last night and worked at it for about 4 hours straight and still no progress you can pick them up in the pick n' mix most places but I'm damned if I'm going to let a giant ball of sweet, sweet sugar beat me.

At about 2 inches in diameter it nearly gave me lock jaw.
If I don't make progress today I'm going to bring out the hammer.
