Following on from this thread does anyone else remember these?

My granny used to buy these for me in the late 70s/early 80s. They used to cost about 8-20p each and contained small plastic toys, miniature decks of cards, hard boiled sweets or gum with corny jokes on the wrappers.

    Ah the memories...

they're still around. my little brother got one there a few weeks ago. a POKEMON (or one of those shows) bag with exactly the same stuff i used to get, crap crayons, a colouring book, some crap toy, disgusting sweets and a bar or something. only this time pikachu and all his little gay friends are on it.

Ah yes. Weren't the toys fantastic - typically something like Castle Grayskull or the M.A.S.K. mountain base if I recall correctly :)
Nothing still beats Kinder Eggs for sweet/toy combo. Plus the Kinder Magic Code rocks!

:( Back in 1983ish I remember around easter they had larger Kinder Eggs (about 3 or 4 times the size of the standard ones) and I remember asking (i.e. nagging) my mother for one instead of a normal easter egg. I mean 4 times the size is 4 times the toy right?

A helicopter, a ship, a space rocket... no. I got a fooking ring and identity bracelet. I was never so disappointed - in fact I was disgusted. Think I should take this to PI :D.

So after that sh1t festoring in a drawer for months, I in a moment of madness decided to wear the identity bracelet (with no identity 'cos it wasn't engraved obviously) to impress an 11 year old girl in school (I was 11 too btw - just for the record). For some reason I got into a sh1t load of trouble in school that day - something that didn't normally happen, so I came to the belief that not only was it a sh1t kinder toy, it was also bad luck.

Since this was North Dublin in the early 80s, I reckon it was a clever plan by Kinder to wein the kids on to rings (the big chunky ones the hoods wear) and identity bracelets that were hexed in a bid to cause social unrest and the abuse of sports wear :D.

    D.

// I know this thread is really about lucky bags as apposed to kinder but I had to get that out ;)
