    Mac OS X 10.3.2

    Eircom bb

    All of a sudden, my terminal prompt calls itself filer3-b with no intervention from me. What's going on? Anyone?

    configured using DHCP

    local ip
    192.168.1.1

    left dns servers blank, search domains blank

    In short, your private 192.168.1.1 address is being resolved by Eircom's DNS as a public address....
