Question...I heard tonight if you plug in a telephone lead to back of digibox and cross the two wires you can get box office movies free.Has anyone tried this? Will it damage the sky box?Was reassured that it works...What do ye think?

    that's bull****

what happens is events/films are stored on your card. when the card reaches it's limit you will order no more unless you

    a) pay off the events/films on your card
    b) order events/films by talking to the robot on the 0818 number incurring an additional charge for not booking with your remote

no such thing as free Box Office

What do you mean by"events/films are stored on your card"?Does this mean he will be billed for the ones he watchs at a later stage? Is there not a chance that it tricks the card?I really dont know much about it but your saying that its not possible? So why is it working for him?Dont sky not send a signal?Perphaps doing this mimics the signal?

    No it does not work.

    Your card tracks spending

Any signals from Sky are always by satellite

If you watch a pay per view film or game, you will be billed, sooner or later, unless you put your card and digibox at once in a landfill.

The card has a credit limit in case you book and phone line is busy.

There is no method of defeating sky charging or encryption, and if there was it would be theft.

    It doesn't work.

no you can't get it free, aparently you get away wit it for a while by doing the two wire trick, but should you ever a) connect your phone line properly or b) order legit you will be back billed. I think there is also a log imprinted on the card so when you get so many movies without this log being cleared you are stopped.

Think of your Sky card like a floppy disk - the software on the Sky digibox records what movies/box office events you watch onto the card. What I do is connect the Sky box up to the phone line around once a month. The box then "downloads" from the card to Sky over the phone line. So yes, he will be billed at a later stage. I have been billed for movies over 8 months after I have watched them (because I forgot to plug the Sky box into the phone line).

Sky send a singal via the Satellite, not via the phone line. If you think about it, the software on your Sky digibox is updated every so often. This is not done over the phone (it would take forever), it is a one-way link via satellite.

Sky digiboxes are fairly bulletproof - I would be very surprised if there was a way to circumvent the security and get movies for free.

This is a variation on the 9Volt battery trick where you connected a battery to the the phone connection on the digibox for the purposes of fooling it into thinking it has a phoneline connected. If you you have impulse PPV activated it will allow you to purchase PPV up to your spending limit and no more. You purchases are stored in your digibox and also on your card so if you get a brand new card and put it in your box it will write your purchases back to your new card likewise your old card will write your purchases to a new box. If you ever connect your box to a line again you will be billed no matter how long ago it was so as already said it most certainly does not work.

I know when i wanted to order a box office i used to put in the phone wire order and then remove the wire, i did this for 4 movies, however upon getting my 2nd sub to sky, i was forced to put the phone wire in 24-7 and then i got the bill for those movies, some over a year had passed since i watched them!!!
