FFVII on epsxe

Im having a bit of trouble running ffvii on this emu and i was wondering if it has, more or less, been perfectly emulated. Im using gpupeteopengl.dll video plugin and SCPH1001 as bios. Trouble is when a battle starts the screen goes black and flickers. I can sometimes see whats going on but its quite head wrecking nonetheless.

So does anyone have a perfect setup for it? I tried using the PC version but ironically the emulated one is much better. :/

I played this before and remember it working perfect.
It's basically a case of trying different plugins.
I was meant to "backup" mt friends game but never got round to it.

One of the settings for the GFX plugin, has a FF7 Fix in it, its on of the extra options in there, "Game Fixes" bottom left of the plugin i think

ive been playing this on epsxe lately too, and it runs fine on my machine. Looks a damn sight better than th eps1 version too. Im using peteogl205 (?) at least thats the name of the plugin on the zip file i downloaded. and it works fine, im using the same bios, too.

first thing first, dont use the ogl2 plugin. its new and pretty but is buggy and a 9800xt pro whatever is just about enough. the standard one is better for the moment

    use my specs here

the battle transition effect might be a little slow unless you have a gf4+ or a 9600+ but thats a hardware limitation of pc graphics card design and really can only be overcome with the brute force of newer cards.

[edit]Any kind of AA running will also slow the battle swirl down to bejaysus, turn it off[/edit]

féck that older plugin did nothing for me :/

this is what it looks like : http://members.boards.ie/jabba/ff7.JPG

cant see any pf the options and the characters are usually just all black i.e they look like shadows. Battle swirl is still cocked up.

[edit] WOOHOO! i used the d3d plugin in and things seem to be working out (touch wood) [/edit]

[edit2] ahhh blast! battle is still messed up but there are otehr minor improvements. btw stu i couldnt find OpenGL Driver 1.1.71 so I used the 1.75 one. Do u have a link for ur one? [/edit2]

intel celeron 1.3ghz Ati radeon 9000 mobility. 512mb ram. its a latitude D600.

do you have the latest omega drivers? ati dont supply drivers for their mobile gfx chipsets. that is left to the oem vendor who in general dont give a rats ass about it.

d3d will run a little better than on a chipset like that but dont try and run at more than 640x480 or the battle swirl will take about 10minutes.

the software plugin might actually run better as the 2d will look far better and the swirl will work perfectly, the downside is that the 3d will not run at higher resolutions only at the original psx res scaled up to fit the window.

which you prefer is a matter of prefence tbh.

does anyone know of any good sound plugins for epsxe? The only problem i have with FFVII running on mine is that the sound effects are corrupted. The music is fine, but any sound effects just sound, well..weird.
