I was posting in "What film did you watch 2nite" and i posted Geldeneye (i think its the best bond) then i wonderd what is the majority vote on the best bond movie.

I cant put in a poll cause there is more than 10 bond movies and the max options in a poll is 10.

So i say goldeneye is the best , and the rest off you?

Either Live and Let Die or A View To a Kill. Those two are my favourites.

    Goldfinger
"do you expect me to talk"
"no Mr Bond, I expect you to die"
    And a plausable plot.

Casino Royale - love the song. "have no fear, Bond is hear"

    Diamonds are forever
    Dr No

    Best forgotten
    - Never say never again
extremely bad special effects on the totally impractical polaris missile turns into a personal hover thingy.
the jet pack at the start of thunderball was real.

    - Most of the Moore ones (esp attempts a humour)

None of them I ****ing hate the franchize when will it end.

Bond gets ****ed over at start by evil villan bond plots revenge whilst as a subplot he has to save humankind and he does this by the use of a ****ing fit bird

only thing I ever liked about bond is when halle came out of the ocean in that orange bathing suit and when she was in leather oh so good :)

    Bond is **** and monotonous

My top 3 in particular order:

    Licence to Kill
    Live & Let Die
    Goldfinger

Top Bond Girl .... Halle Berry or Ursula Andres

    Goldeneye is definetly tops.

Sean Bean was just the perfect baddie, and he was utterly BRILLIANT in the role!
    "For England James..."

And of course, Famke Janssen was the hottest bond girl ever!

I liked mostly all the previous films, but other than Goldeneye, I simply cannot stand the Brosnan efforts.
    They've been fairly ****e.

    Bring back Timothy Dalton.

8 posts in, and I have to be the one to suggest Moonraker?

    Reasons:
    1. It has Jaws in it
    2. Jaws gets some sex
    3. It's in space
    4. Hugo Drax is the best Bond bad-guy since Blofeld ("Mr. Bond, you persist in defying my efforts to provide an amusing death for you")
    5. The "disco" version of the main theme is amazing
    6. It has pigeons doing a double-take as Bond's gondola turns into a hovercraft

"The World is Not Enough", Robert Car...(how the hell do you spell his name) was just brill:D

Connery - From Russia With Love

Lazenby - On Her Majesties Secret Service

Moore - A View to a Kill or Live and Let Die (can't decide...)

    Dalton - The Living Daylights

    Brosnan - Goldeneye

The best overall is definitely On Her Majesties Secret Service.

A View to a Kill is one of my favourites.

    Best line:
    Bond- "Jump Mayday, JUMP!!!"
Mayday- "I can't I have to hold the handbrake...." then BOOM!!

    :p:p:p Brilliant!!

The best overall is definitely On Her Majesties Secret Service.

It's one of the only Bond films that stands out as a piece of cinema, as opposed to a Bond movie... The ending is genius... And it has the best one liner of any of the films, "This never happened to the other fellow".

Yet another best Bond movie thread!

I'll vote for From Russia With Love it has all the right ingredients but none of the fat of a huge budget.

OHMSS is notable too for its downbeat ending plus some terrific action.

    Mike.

The best is proborably Dr No.

Pierce Brosnan is the worst Bond ever. He has the acting ability of day time soap star. He has been acted off screen by all the bad guys hes taken on. The less said about the last Bond the better. One of the worst films of the year if not the decade.

Dr No or Moonraker are the best i think

Sean Connery was by far the best bond, but i think Pierce Brosnan does a good job as Bond.

Who would ye vote as the best "bond babe"? I'd say "Pussy Galore" simply because of the name ;)

My favourite has to be You Only Live Twice (also has one of the best themes). I also have a sneaking regard for On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

    Zenya OnaTop - Gondeneye

i think they're all awful too.

used to watch them when i was small, but grew out of them pretty quickly.

cant stomach them. its a mystery to me why people go to see the new ones.

Nobody said Casino Royale then. ;)

I'd say it's a toss between You Only Live Twice.

For On Her Majesty's Secret Service, it's got Telly Savalas as the best Blofeld, it's got Dianna Rigg, who's cute as hell, ok so Lazonby...leave the aussie alone- better than Roger "raising this eyebrow makes me sexy" Moore.

For You Only Live Twice it's got the best theme and score (particularly the "spacemarch" theme- wow! still gives me goosebumps when I hear it) it has beautiful locations and ninjas and sexy jap birds, it's the first time you meet Blofeld and that chase between the helicopters and "Little Nelly" still looks good to this day.
And some classic lines, "In Japan, men come first!"

Licence to Kill, I think Dalton to be the 2nd best Bond and possibly the most like Flemming would have envisioned him, pity he was caught up in the neo-prim 80's and couldn't get as much action as other Bonds but still- Licence to Kill was the most un-Bond Bond and seemed to show a new modern approach minus cliches. Robert Davi as Sanchez was absolutly brilliant and I gotta put him up there with Auric, Blofeld and Kananga.

Finally- I'll give honorable mentions to Live and Let Die, as I thought that was a great film and probably my fav Bond as a nipper. They invariably showed it every xmas and it was always a big occasion. As far as Moore is concerned I thought him the worst Bond, made the worst movies and is the one responsible for making the franchise the cliched crap it's viewed as today. (I did see someone mention Moonraker and I also have a sort spot for it for the same reasons mentioned) Once again, of course, what makes a good Bond is a good baddie- and Yaphet Koto was just the man in that film, he really was. And it had the best boat-chase of all time, I mean The World is Not Enough had a boat chase on the Thames but where was Sherrif JW Pepper?

As for the new ones? I think Brosnan is a pitiful Bond, he tries to be cool but comes across cold, not cold in the Sean way, and as for the glib lines he has? Well it's bad enough without giving him camp one-liners that even Roger Moore wouldn't dare utter. Still, I gotta say, I was quite impressed with the last one, I hate Halle Berry, and seem to be the only one alive who thinks she's a mutt. Still, I loved all the in jokes and as for the car chase on ice? Well, that really set the standard once again- I dunno how any movie can top that. Oh yeah and Bond had a beard. \o/

    Best Bond bird?

Sanchez' bird in Licence to Kill.
    Diana Rigg in OHMSS.
And Sylvia Trench in Dr No.

Worst tho- gotta be Grace Jones- bleuugh! what were you thinking>
    Stupid Roger Moore.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,522 ✭✭✭Dr. Loon

Dr. No always stood out for me... maybe 'cos of Ursula Andress!
There's no doubting Connery's the best Bond. I liked Dalton's portrayal of Bond but not his look.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,149 ✭✭✭✭Lemming

For anyone saying "Casino Royale" or "Never say never again", those were unofficial films.

I consider Connery to be the best bond (surprise surprise), followed by Dalton and then Brosnan. I despised Roger Moore. Far too smug.

    Favourite films:

    Dr.No
    From Russia with Love
    Goldfinger
    Thunderball
You only live twice (this film rules!)
    The Living Daylights
    Licence to Kill
GoldenEye (as said, Bean was magnificent)
Die Another Day (Rather dark and unusual beginning, oh and I think that Halle Berry is mutt. I just don't like her)

I am also of the opinion that OHMSS is very much under-rated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,608 ✭✭✭✭sceptre

OHMSS. Has everything. Including Diana Rigg.

Many bond films are similar. They seem to be constantly on TV.

    My favourite one??

They are all pretty similar expect for the changes in bond & moneypenny.
