Boston Public Cancelled !!!

    From TrekToday
E! Online reports that Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine)'s Boston Public has been suspended by FOX, leaving the show's future in limbo as former Star Trek staffer Bryan Fuller's Wonderfalls is scheduled to take over its timeslot on March 12th.

Despite Ryan's presence, Kelley had been ordered to find a new female lead to join the show's cast, the report said.

Boston Public, which was created by David E. Kelley of Ally McBeal and The Practice, is now shooting its 15th episode of the season, far less than the 22 episodes usually ordered for a full television run.

This is an increase on the 13 episodes ordered by Fox at the start of the season, but the show has averaged only 4.8 million viewers.

Though Variety reported that Fox may order a final wrap-up episode, that would put Boston Public at only 82 episodes for its total run - short of the 100 episodes that usually makes a show a candidate for syndication.
    Good riddance...

    :ninja:

    haha David E. Kelley! :D

He used to write good stuff back in the days of Picket Fences & early Practice & Ally McBeal, but he hasn't had a decent show in years. Boston Public started mediocre and never really got any better!

    Good Riddance indeed!

ps-- things don't look good for The Practice either ;)

It has actually yet to be cancelled yet but I have to admit it doesn't look good!

Yeah, I only went surfing after I'd posted...found this:

Despite being widely believed to have a full season order of 22 episodes for its fourth season, "Boston" apparently was only picked up for 13 episodes this season and extended for an additional two last month. FOX was reportedly considering ordering even more episodes however plans to bring on a new female lead to revamp the series never came through. Networks reps nevertheless are insisting the show hasn't been canceled and remains in contention for FOX's fall 2004 schedule. Should it be axed however, FOX is said to be open to ordering a 16th episode to wrap-up the series.

    Still doesn't sound good though.

Yes Have to agree that David E Kelly's productions have gone downhill.

But I dont think that american TV stations cancelling show are a good guide to whats good and whats not.

Just take for example Freeks And Geeks, Undeclared, Grounded for Life etc.

I haven't seen Miss Match but Miss SilverStone is up for an emmy, and that show has been cancelled. But then award shows are never a good indicator of whats good and whats not.

This season of The Practice has been okay, they nearly got back to the weird days of the Nun Killer and the Black widow homosexual Serial killer. It use to be such a different and weird show.

    To hard to explain.

I dont think that american TV stations cancelling show are a good guide to whats good and whats not.

The vast majority of shows that get cancelled deserve a better chance @ finding an audience, but some, like DEK's, have been on TV too long & as you say, 'The Practice' ain't what it used to be by a long ways. 'Boston Public' was never as good as the height of 'The Practice's great storylines like George Vogelman, so I won't miss it.

I haven't seen Miss Match... that show has been cancelled.

'Miss Match' hasn't been cancelled. NBC put the show on a break to allow 'Ed' to take over the slot on Friday with new episodes in January & February, as 'The Apprentice', a new reality show, took 'Ed's old timeslot on Wednesday.
NBC only just ordered more new episodes of 'Miss Match' December 15th, and they're still currently filming. 'Ed' is ending its season @ the end of February, and then Miss Match will be back. The WB did the same thing for 2 seasons of 'Felicity', sharing the same timeslot with 'Jack & Jill' to reduce repeats shows, which usually bring in lower ratings.
NBC President Jeff Zucker has said a few times that they fully support 'Miss Match' and might even give the show a new timeslot this spring to try & increase the ratings. Either way, the show *IS* coming back.
It's no secret that 'Miss Match' isn't a hit, or even close, but there's a big difference between a break with continued production of new episodes, and, a complete halting of production, like what's happened to 'Boston Public'.
Miss SilverStone is up for an emmy

She's nominated for a Golden Globe, not an Emmy. The Emmy nominations aren't announced til the summer of every year, with the awards ceremony in September, so they're a bit off yet. ;)

Thank you, trying to think of that guys name.

I beleive that the Practice returns with some good story lines next season, thank god the whole linsay and Bobby think is finish, very dull, I got the felling that Dylan McDermot has only one facial expression.

Thank you again, but i mean there are so many award shows now.
