    Their putting the gears on the handlebars? Sure half the coolness came from having that great big handle on the cross bar!

    Personally, I thought the Grifter was a whole lot cooler.

    Ah man, when I was a kid (7) I'd a Tomahawk (think chopper but smaller and no gears) but I always wanted a Chopper 'cos it had gears ... and a cool gear lever.

    But everyone that I knew that had a chopper seemed to have also broken the gears so I never got to experience a chopper in its true glory.

    ... gears on the handle bars just won't be the same :(

    Patch, I dunno. Gifters were cool, but somehow the chopper caught the imagination - and everything else when you fell off :(
