    Yayee....

    Associated Press

Showing some swagger in the midst of one of its best seasons in years, CBS announced Saturday that it is launching a third drama in its "CSI" series — this time based in New York City.

Is Navy CSI not the 2nd spin off?

No..it's called Navy NCIS which stands for Navy Criminal Investigation Services.
They are nothing to do with CSI.
NCIS is a spinoff of JAG.

Why do they bother calling it Navy NCIS when the N in NCIS already stands for Navy???

Yeah JAG's frist season was good they it went down hill.

I think there going to kill CSI with all the spin offs.

I cant see them lasting for the next 3 years, I give them each 2 maybe 3 seasons more.

What they need is a different angle. The Law & Order spin-offs are going strong and the reason they survive is doing each show a bit different. Maybe something CSI should look into.

Agreed ixoy. Just changing location and cast won't make another CSI work. All the L+O's are set in NY but the fact they are about slightly different story types makes them all work (CI is my favourite by the way..Goren is a class character).
CSI NY will definately need a different angle on things to make it interesting.

For the record...I like CSI a lot...CSI Miami not so much...cant stand david caruso's posing.
If you had to take a shot of vodka everytime he posed with his hands on his hips or put on his sunglasses during an episode, you'd be passed out hy the first ad break.

uh oh - just read that there is a FOURTH Law and Order in the works.

I think they may be pushing it a bit now alright. I can't even imagine what a fourth L+O would be about although my guess would be some kind of anti-terrorism task force crap so they can throw out flag-waving crap every week.
Here's a link to the story:

It's mentioned near the bottom of the article.

Oh my! I hope it's not a terorrist unit. That's effectively dealth with in "Criminal Intent" because that deals with the Special Crimes division. They did a terrorist plot only a couple of weeks ago.

Think of the various divisions. There's, for instance, the waterfront division (seen in HBO's "The Wire") but that is way too limited. There's loads of smaller crime divisions and bureacruatic ones. The most obvious one, however, is some form of drugs division. The ATF have some jurisdiction here but I reckon they can make a series. It'd be interesting seeing them have to work with crack addicts, especially through having a character whose had an addiction previously and/or is addicted. It gets my vote.
