    EXCLUSIVE
19/01/04 Sky Sports World subscribers get free films
It has been noted to us this evening and confirmed by Sky, that since 1st January 2004, anyone with a Sky Sports World package (regardless of base pack) can subscribe to Sky Movies 2,4,6 and 8 at no additional cost. The pack price for Sky Sports World and Family Pack is £33, the same as adding on Sky Movies 2,4,6 and 8 (£33). Contrary to the Sky website, Sky Sports 3 and Sky Sports Xtra are still included as bonus channels. You can adjust your package by calling 0870 240 4040.

Not sure if it applies to ROI.

I am a Sky Sports World subscriber - must check this out ...

There is an installation offer with free movies for 1st month, perhaps they are referring to that.

It is true...I have Sky World and am thinking of downgrading to this package.

It is listed on www.sky.com..Packages & Prices...
Sky Sports 1 and 2 + Sky Movies 2 & Family Pack (7th one down on the left)
    £33 sterling.
You get all thje sports channels (as 3 and extra are bonus channels when you get 1 and 2) and movies 2, 4, 6, 8.

I wonder if this would affect my Sky+ sub though but I can't imagine that it would as that is still 2 premium channels.

ah but that package wont include Sky Cinema which is one of the reasons i have films anyway

yeah..I was thinking that myself also about Sky Cinema. To be honest they are probably the only movie channels I watch even though I currently have them all.

sounds good. If anyone downgrades to this new package can you please let the rest of us know if everything works ok and the pricing is the same? I am concerned that this might just apply to the UK. Also i would need a guarantee from Sky that you do not loose Sky Sports 3 and in paricular Xtra (Spanish footie). I know they say above that you wouldn't but.........

well Sky Sports World would get you Sky Sports 3 and Xtra anyway

    isnt 2, 4, 6 and 8 the Moviemax channels?

maybe its not such a great deal afterall

I have sky sports world and rang up to change my
sub from C1 to G1 to get the free movies
but when i questioned the girl further she said that this package
"G1" would be increasing in price very soon.

hey guys , just to confirm I called up last night ((from limerick)) and got the extra movie channels added straight away. Only 1€ extra...... so now my sub fee is €50 rather than €49. So where as it's free over in uk, it cost me 1 euro to get the 4 movie channels added on.. interesting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 731 ✭✭✭dwayneburke

    €1 extra = 4 extra channels

    you cant go wrong...

ye i know , but i cant help but worry that they will raise the price or somthin dodgy like that. And also i think it's another example of the double standards that sky have with the irish... uk get them free we have to pay. but still , it's only a euro:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 731 ✭✭✭dwayneburke

true...i see ur point Damonanye....sure what else do you expect from mr Murdoch€€€€

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 463 ✭✭Emerson

The girl said €1 first to me, but then said its actually 20cent extra/month..
I said fine and within an hour the movies were on!

Rang Sky last night wanting to change to this package. After 15 mins on the phone the guy then told me that by changing, my sky+ subscription would be no longer free. So I left my subscription as was.

Rang up a different operator an hour later to double check and he said it would be no problem to change (€1 extra per month) and sky+ would still be free!

Don't know what kind of training they give these operators?

So is it €1 extra a month or 20 cent extra? Not that it makes a huge difference but still.........

I ordered it last night....the operator told me it was €1 extra per month....when i rang hadn't a clue what package G1 was???

I had to tell her what channels were on it....bloody hell i could have added all the channels for all she knew..

    Anyway....im happy 4 extra channels
