Ntl Digital -v- Sky Digital

I'm thinking of going digital sometime over the next few weeks. I'm really just interested in getting the general entertainment channels. There seems to be a big discrepancy in the prices charged by NTL and SKY (i.e. €12 per month as opposed to about €28 per month). I know you don't get quite as many channels with NTL in Dublin but can anyone advise as to whether it's worth paying the extra to go with SKY. Also, the NTL reception isn't great in my house. So does it follow that if I went with the NTL Digital package the reception would also be poor on these channels? Any advice would be much appreciated!!! Thanks.

You get more channels with SKY digital then with NTL, you also get to use Sky's interactive services. It really depends on what you want to watch.

If you can get NTL broadband and want UTV / Channel 4 then look at NTL.

You can get BBC free to air with a non-contact / secondhand digibox.

If you go the SKY route then after a year you can connect for a while and reconnect later. NTL charge a lot for the reconnect fee.

The NTL Digital service may be €12 a month but you also have to have the Analogue service which is around €10 a month so you end up paying around €30 a month for the basic NTL digital so Sky works cheaper. Can someone confirm this?

    Silly arguement.

If you are outside NTL area no choice, Satellite only.

If you only want free channels (inc all BBC) Satellite only.

If you want PVR direct MPEG of Pay TV, Sky + only.

If you want Free channels direct MPEG PVR, Satellite only.

Cable = NTL only if NTL area

Satellite ONLY Sky IF you want Sky's pay package. There are other NON-Sky Satellite providers.

No free cable. Can't buy a cable box.

This is as sillier than argue about Teso Value pack mushy peas, versus Dunnes own Brand baked beans.

We have seen all the arguement before.

Basically if you are in cabled Dublin in Apartment etc that doesn't allow Dish, then you have to have cable.

If you are in Rural Ireland, you MIGHT be able to get MMDS(but is it worth it for just C4 and UTV compared with Satellite? It dfoesn't require degree in Rocket science to get the once off payment FTV £23.50 card for ITV , Ch4 and Five -- with ALL ITV regions ).

Even on Subscription Sky (which Satellite viewers don't have to have) you actually OWN EVERYTHING from day1. Cable you own nothing.

This is a subject that feeds Trolls.
