    Hello Dubwireless,

Thinking of getting a Samsung SGH-E700 what do you think of this phone and have you seen or used it. Also what is the major delay in getting handsets approved by vodafone ireland as opposed to vodafone uk. Have you heard of any nice camera phones coming soon. I have an upgrade availiable from vodafone or should i simply buy sim-free. I was going to buy a Sharp GX-20 but I am told these are not availaible any more

One last thing do you have any buying experience with Hong Kong phone sellers and do you have links to any.

    Thanks,
    TCP/IP

hi - haven't used it sorry - took a look at it's details etc. when it was announced and thought it looked nice when closed - but not so nice on the inside when opened :(

what with the delay here? usually operator testing, sometimes handset availability, etc...

if you are with Voda then i liked the SonyEricsson Z600 (although without the Voda Live! branding) - you might like the Motorola V525?

with the Irish operators - it can be a case of 'how long is a piece of string' trying to work out when a handset will be released here ;) - some of the other posters (working in there) might be able to help you out with upcoming releases better then I...

what's new from the manufacturers, next big event is CeBIT in March, funny enough last year Samsung had a load of handsets on display but many haven't made it to market...

never bought from Hong Kong, i stick with getting handsets from the UK myself

Just bought one, ebay for 300e new locked to at&t. Looks good, and is compact. I'll let you know how I get on.

And the z600 is a monstrosity.

A friend got the E700 recently from Asia. She loves it, but then again, she's a chick. She think it looks pretty.... Have not had a chance to fiddle with it yet... One of the benefts of this handsets is that it supports both WAP 1.2 and 2.0. So you will actually be able to use if now and its pretty much future proof for when the operators finally upgrade their Wap services.

I finally got to play with the GX20 recently and was taken back by the quality of the screen. It really is far far beyond anything I have seen.

The Z600 is a nice phone but I dont think I would get one. Mind you, I have a T610 and would prefer the Z600 over it (just don't like the T610). I have only played with the V525 briefly so cannot really comment on it.

Most of the WAP 2.0 devices will start appearing here around March I think.

The Gx20 is still available by the way. Saw rumours about the GX30 on some sight last week too, sounds deadly.

    care to elaborate...

It's big and ungainly, though it does offer a lot of features.
