I want to buy a digital cam and a printer for printing the pics on to photograph quality paper.

now its just for personal use ( family pics and what not ) but I would hope to get as near to professional quality as possible with the printing. i think I would be printing no more than 10-15 pics per month

The cam will not need large memory by any standards and USB or firewire connections are fine.

    any advice ?

I've had a Canon S30 for the last couple of years - great quality, great battery life etc.

Recently got a Canon CP-200 photo printer which compliments it perfectly. I can plug the printer directly into the camera and print 6x4 glossy photos in about 60 seconds per print. It's a dye sub printer so the prints are perfect lab quality, or at least they look perfect. As for consumables, for €20 you get a ribbon and 36 sheets of glossy paper that'll allow you to print.. well, 36 photos. I think that works out at roughly 50c per picture; more or less the same as if you brought them into a lab to be printed (minus the waiting time of course). I havent' experimented much yet but apparently it'll do credit card sized prints and smaller stickers too. Overall its a cracking bit of kit though.
