Questions about Star Wars

No Matter how many times i watch Star wars i keep trying to figure out some things.

First of all there is the profecy (spell) of bringing balance to the force . This has been mentioned a few times but what exactly is bringing balance to the force ? Is this eradicating the Dark side ? If so this is incorrect as the Jedi were unable to tell that Palpatine was a sith . Im going cross eyed tring to understand . Anybody shed some light on this please ? ?

My understanding about the prophecy is this. There would be a great Jedi who would purportedly bring balance to the force.

In the Movies, it becomes apparent, that Anakin Skywalker is that Jedi. How he brings balance to the force can be interpreted many ways, but the concensus seems to be that he is the one who eventually destroys Palpatine/Sidious, and in doing so, relinquishes his alliance with the dark side, returning to the light, so to speak.

another theory (which I dont subscribe to) is that he is the father of Luke and Leia, both of whom are endowed with great Jedi skill, but this apparently is beyond the remit of the films.

The Jedi think the Dark Side has grown to massively epic proportions, that a Jedi that will once again bring the balance to the "good" side of the force. Of course, balance means equal, and since the Jedi are more powerful, the balance is actually towards the dark side. So effectively the "balancing" is where all the good guys get butchered.

Now if only Lucas could direct a script that could portray this in a thoughtful way

Anakin has the power to become one with the force after death, he possess this power unknowingly - only OB1 and Yoda figure it out.

THis could be interpreted as bringing a life/death balance to the force, it's the thought I think it all means.

The whole good/evil is just too obvious and simple

As far as I was aware without reading the books from the extended universe and going only by what friends of mine have told me, is it not that Anakin was thought because of his power to be the fabled jedi to bring balance to the force. Howerever he turned evil and Luke then came along to supposidly bring the balance. After the Return of the Jedi film though, the influence Sidious had on him showed and he turned to the dark side only to be brought back by Leia who had by this stage also begun training as a jedi when she found she also had power in the force.

Is this bull**** I was told or is this the case? Apparently Leia was the one who DID bring balance and peace to the force.

Anakin was the one who brought balance to the force. Balance as stated means equal, and thus to bring balance to the force, means to equalise both the light and the dark side, so that no side is stronger or weaker and the harmony of perfect balance reigns.

In episode 2, Yoda and Mace Windu (not sure if it's these 2 tbh, haven't watched the movie in a while as I'm not that big a fan of any of the movies) state that the Light side and the Jedi as a whole are becoming weaker, this means that Sidious and the Dark Side are becoming stronger.

Anakin at the moment he kills Palpatine eventually brings balance back to the force by killing off the 1 major player/power the Dark Side had.

][cEMAN, all the stuff you were told is true to my knowledge. I'm not 100% about some of it, but Luke does go to the Dark Side (twice afaik) and Leia and Mara amongst others bring him back. But Anakin is the one who brings balance to the force in the end. The Jedi Order thought he'd balance it as a Jedi in there time, it turns out he could only balance it by becoming a Sith and leading them to near total victory before redeeming himself to bring about the balance.

The reason the Jedi were becoming so weak is because there were to many of them. There is only so much Light side energy to be shared out, and the more there were, the weaker everyone got. The Sith complain about the same effect during a tradepaper back comic series called Jedi V Sith.
