I just got my IBB 512k 20:1 services install last week in Rathfarnham pointing to the 3 rocks tower. From day 1 my pings were awful and theyr not getting much better. I usually get 15-30K download speeds but have look at the ping times.

When they installed my service that said it was and excellent quality signal!!!!

Pinging 64.231.41.1 with 32 bytes of data:

That's about as good as it gets for Irish Broadband unfortunately. I was connected to the RTÉ mast for almost a year and the connection was crappy nearly all the time. I have screenshots from Irish Broadbands speedtest page (which they seem to have removed since the redesign) where it shows:
    You: -
    28k Modem: -----------

Cancel now and get your money back for the install. It's not going to improve. Ever.

Of late my connection's been very erratic and I'm on the 8:1 ratio package. It'll be fantastic with 10/20ms ping times and then just spike, or start timing out, then pick up again about 20 seconds later.

A mate of mine was running off the RTE mast and was in the same boat as yourself Serbian, until IBB came out and changed his equipment to the business category because he was having such problem.

Interference from UCD's wireless network ......

after over 2 months of bad connection i was told last week told the upgrade on the tallaght tower would be soon....

Today i was told it was imminent! So things are looking good. Theres not many words better than imminent, and as soon as they run out, they'll either have to upgrade, or just admit its not happening soon.

    I give it 2 weeks.

Im using the soho package which could explain that.(business)

    What I have noticed.

Day time week and end is perfect, no spikes 10 ms constant.

In game it has reached an all time low of 2 on the cs scoreboard(most likely inaccurate)

Evenings is when I get ping spikes, but overall I am delighted with the package, full download speeds, with the occasional blip for a few hours.

they told me the package was not suitable for games when i told them it would be also for personal use, I would not reccomend the service for games especially considering the home package seems to be the one causing most people, unwanted stress.

More attributing factors could be that I have a cyrstal Clear Signal, im on the top floor of the apt. block.

Can I ask, did it take them long to get a signal? did they struggle to get one?

I am curious if perhaps the engineers install requirement is too low for a steady signal (pure speculation, but would explain alot)

business users have different antenne equipment, so you get no interference, and consequently better service. This should change with the introdfuction of the 3.5ghz stuff (supposedly). Then no-one should have any interference.

It's all listed on their website:

I thought someone might know off the top of their head. But checking that link out there seems to be a considerable difference in price. Pity people are having problems with the home product.

If your a business yeah, then its a no brainer. But for home users, who can't get a decent land line then its bit pricey.
