Ken's xmas price hike

We ususal go for a chinese on a Friday at lunch.
Coming up to Christmas we went to Ken's in Athlone as usual.
Lunch is normally 8.50 which is what we expected.
The last Friday before Xmas was different.
When we went in there was a few sheets of paper hanging up
stateing about a 10% service charge, then lunch menu was off.
We thought we'd try it anyways as we were seated.
For the exact same meal and service we paid 16.50.

Needless to say we have not been back there since.

So to Ken's in Athlone, thanks for the lunchs of 2003 but
ya won't see me in 2004.

Anybody got a bigger xmas price hike ?

Similar story happened to my boyfriend and I, and his parents during Christmas 2002 in Johnny Fan's in Waterford. We'd often eaten there for lunch and evening meals, and it's usually reasonable. But that night, the prices were exorbitant, and the menu was very limited compared to other nights. People were actually coming in, sitting down, looking at the menu and leaving.

We haven't been back there in a year now, and I don't think that is going to change.

If you're not happy with the meal, you don't have to pay the service charge.
