I've got a les paul and I was thinking of putting either the jim dunlop strap lock system or the schaller ones on. Which is better and are they going pop out with the weight of my guitar?

Schaller seem to be the industry standard, very reliable. Generally, they come with a larger screw than the manufacturer uses so they won't pop out. The Schaller one has a sort of horseshoe shape which cups the button as well as the lock which stops it from coming undone.

Of course, there is always the cheaper option of using duck tape ;)

I use the schaller ones, just make sure you tighten them every few weeks as they ten to work their way out and loosen. great things though very handy

I prefer Dunlop's too. Especially the recessed ones!

Becareful putting them onto a Les Paul. The screws that are in it are a biger diameter than the screws in the strap locks.

Or get a locking strap....got one a year or two ago, and never looked back.
    Fantastic yolks....

I use Jim Dunlop quick release, Horseshoes get loose, and turn upside down!!!

Much handier as well when you need to use a normal strap or your guitar, as the button has a wide end on it.

Oh and screw-plugs are great if you accidently run the threads out, which has happened to me. The screw-plugs have been holding with no sign of looseness for two years now.

Two cheap solutions. Planet Waves Lock strap. Clips onto existing strap pins so no fear of screws pulling out like what happened my LP.

Or more fun like I have now, go down to the off licence, buy two bottles of Grolsch, go home, drink em, take the orange rubber seals off the cap mechanisms like so , stretch em on over the strap pins and hey presto, strap stays put.

The Planet Waves strap is the one I have. I wouldn't bother with nuts after using this thing. At least have a look at one, try it out.
If you like it half as much as I do you'll be glad you did...

Thanks for your help. I ended up picking up these. They're cheap and don't involve changing anything on my LP.
