Random restarts and other post-format problems

    Hi,

I just added a 2nd hard drive and formatted both thanks to lots of help many wonderful beautiful people in these here Tech boards (thankyou thankyou thankyou by the way :D). I've since set it up more or less the same as it was before (although McAfee refuses to acknowledge I'm still paying for their updates and some CD copying software I had has now been removed from everywhere for legal reasons).

Unfortunately I now get random restarts. There have been 3 in the 5 days I've had the system working - once while I was out the room and twice while I was watching (but not doing anything apart from trying to submit a post here on one occasion and using Shareaza P2P on the other occasion).
I know this used to happen with Windows XP (which I am running) but did it happen this frequently? Also should it happen since I've supposedly got all necessary fixes from Windows Update including Service Pack 1?

Apart from this, I've also noticed it takes a long long time to load a couple of background apps when starting the computer. It will load the QuickTime start menu icon and the Creative (sound card apps) start menu icon and the MSN start menu icon, but will then wait up to a couple of minutes (though no activity is evident) before loading the McAfee icon and the Sygate Firewall icon. Any ideas?

Finally it seems to take significantly longer to move files around and between hard drives. Before, with just the 60Gb, I could move folders of around 10Gb or so to other folders without really needing to find something else to do while waiting. Now I have 2 hard drives it seems to take between 20 minutes and half an hour to do this. Is this really normal? Maybe I'm going mad but I'm SURE it didn't take that long before.
If it helps, I have a 160Gb Seagate and a 60Gb Maxtor, with the 160Gb as the master running the OS and the 60Gb as the slave on the same cable. The Seagate is in 4 partitions of just under 40Gb each, but I left the 60 in one piece. Again, any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance,
    me :)
