Bit of a strange thread this but just something I was thinking about....

Do any of you collect comic related models/kits/figures/posters/apparel etc? If so what kind of stuff do you collect?

And do you display it or keep it locked away? In the original boxes or out on a shelf or something? Do you have any pictures of your displays if you *do* infact display the stuff?

Would love to get a few pics up here on a thread of people's collections, to not as much show what they have, but even as much just to show the way in which they display them.

Atm i've got everything I have sat in boxes waiting to be unpacked (I just moved house) but i'm going to be putting it all in a room under lock and key, and put up in display cabinets. I'm locking the room mainly because i'm also going to be putting in samurai swords for my own personal display, but that's a different matter altogether.

We also had a post a good while back about someone asking about duvet covers with superman on them? Do any of you have your rooms done up in comics styles? Bright colours or even actual pictures?

If you have a camera or webcam or anything, please post up some pictures. I'd love to take a look. As soon as I get a new well lit display cabinet and shelves put up I promise to stick up a pic of my own stuff :) (might even show the swords when I buy them in a couple of months).

On my bedroom wall there's a larger than life mural of Daredevil and Elektra, and on the opposite wall is the cover of Superman Red Son #3 done in a poster effect. Batman and Optimus Prime will be added in due course.

Toys-wise, I've a few Transformers and GI Joe dotted about my shelves, but not exactly what you'd call a collection.

I'll post pictures up when I get home at the weekend, if I remember.

I have a fairly large marvel comic collection spanning about 7 or 8 years, which are all nicely dumped away in cardboard boxes until i decide to do a little leisure reading,

Surprisingly enough they're all in pretty good nic but i dont think anyone wants to see a pic of a cardboard box full of comics

See that's the thing cable. I have about 7 large boxes of comics as well which I started collecting back in '92. I have a couple of #1's signed etc, and I was thinking about getting shelfing to display most of my stuff (same way stores do it) or wondering should I put some hanging on the wall (like they do with the rare comics).

Strange as it sounds, for the rare ones that are in bags, wondering if I could even get A4 picture frames and display them (they fit well in these) already in their bags.

The room is going to be purely for everything I collect (i'm a packrat with a lot of stuff) and i'm looking to theme it up as much as possible. As sad as it sounds I was originally going to paint the room black and get some florecent green paint, cut out a stensil and paint on matrix symbols, so when I stick the lights out and my green lava lamp on I would get a kewl effect :D

Now i'm just wondering as that might be a bit OTT, what else I could do.

Yeah, that neon-ness sounds a little OTT alright (only I have to admit it would probably still make a pretty cool sight)

I have a few #1's to, like xmen and cable and stuff, in proctective sleeves, just ever thought of puttin them on display, 1. cause I always thought of them as just MY STUFF and not smething I'd share, and 2. cause I'm pretty lazy and just couldnt be bothered

I don't think a comic room could be ott .....

you get frames made to fit exactly what you want ... and suited to the colour and style of the comic if you wish ...

    don't know where you'd get pre-made frames

I've got a Spiderman signed by Stan Lee, an X-men trading card signed by Ian Mckellan and a lot of other signed stuff. I've got signed Chuck Dixon and Alan Moore aswell. I used to have some of them framed on my walls but people kept comning in and knocking them. A lot of frames were broken. So I just put them all away.

Have you had any of them valued?

That Stan Lee one sounds class

The best way to do that is to get them Graded - then you can just go by the grading price of the comic. Though you can only do this through comic stores or pay a lot of money to do it yourself. You still have to pay to get it done but some stores can send it off for you and you get charged a decent amount.
