I was having a quick scan through the posts on this forum and talk of various Amiga games got me wanting to play them again, games like SWIV, IK+, Lemmings
Can anyone post a step my step guide to getting myself set up playing some oldskool games?
    Emulator download site?
    Games download site?
    Any installation or running tips?

I've looked at a few websites from the Stickys, but it all seems fairly complicated.
    ta

<edit> not asking for warez or anything dodgy if my post seems that way,
freeware or abandonware or whatever the term is is what I'm after<edit>

How to set up WinUAE and Play Amiga games on your PC......By LoGiE

    1. Get yourself WinUAE (0.8.23) [installer] from www.winuae.net

2.Download Amiga In A Box (AIAB) from http://aiab.emuunlim.com/

3.Goggle for the Amiga kickstart roms
    (ie. Kick13.rom (A500) Kick31.rom (A600) The files are 512k in size)

4.. Get some Games:) ... These files come with the extension .adf Take a look at http://www.back2roots.org but again you will have to google if you want to find most of your favorite games;)

Right so now you have the Emulator, Kickstart, Game files and some config files....

    5. Install WinUAE to your location of choice I presume you picked the default c:\Programfiles\winuae Now install AIAB to the same directory.

    6. Open the Installation folder and open the "Rom" Folder. Copy your kickstart file in here.

    7. At this point you could create a folder for your games in the /winuae directory "Games" should do it:) Now copy your downloaded games into this folder. They can be either zipped or unzipped. (Personally I unzip them.)

    8. Start WinUAE!

    9. Home stretch.. Now you need to click on the various tabs to configure WinUAE.

-ROM- Browse and locate the kickstart rom in your "Rom" Folder
    -SOUND- Enable sound
-DISPLAY- Full Screen or prefered window size and Scanlines

    10. Click on the configurations tab and click on "Floppy games" from the list, then click Save or Save As if you want to save this config under a different name.

    Still with me?:)
    11. Now make sure "Floppy games" (or the name you picked) and click ok....The Amiga screen you remember should now pop up in a window or full screen!

    12. Now to load a game. Hit the F12 key to bring back up the options.

13.Click the Floppies tab and browse for your game files were it says DFO: use the "..." beside the eject button. (Note: You can use DF1: for a second disk image DF2: for a 3rd disk etc)

    14. Click ok and ....Game starts....Joy!

Any problems or questions Post or PM me:)

Anyone want to add to the above?

Are there any helpful guides to making an Amiga hard disk imagy thing and converting floppy disk games onto one of them?

I've just got into Amiga stuff recently, and have finally got to play those old Lucasfilm games like Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion with *decent* sound (I've had the DOS PC versions, but PC speaker sound was painful if anything, and getting mediocre SB16 sound to work in Win2k is a pain), but the loading times from ADF files is slow even at 800% speed in WinUAE, and then there's the games which are on over 10 disks!

Ah I recently finished Monkey Island 2 emulated and while it was still a chore it was no were near as much of a pain in the ass as doing it on the real thing.

    My head hurts.

All I want is to be able to relive Super Bomberman on my PSP. To think I actually had someone put all these classic games on a single cd for me and then lose it. Yes, I am an idiot :(

If you have the PC versions of old games, 2 programs that you're gonna love are VDMsound to just correct the sound, or DOSbox, which is a dos emulator! Basically will run any old dos based bame with proper sound too.
