    Hey all,
Have a couple of questions that hopefully some of ye can help me out with :) Okies, heading to Canada right after the leaving cert is done, I know it's 6 months away but I want this well planned out :). *edit* forgot to mention I'm going to Montreal */edit*

I'm going for two months, heading at the end of july (around the 29th) earlier if possable! Returning at the end of August to sort out college stuff, can do most of it online thankfully :). The cheapest I can get for a ticket, after trying the suggested links in the booking sites sticky is €649.15(EUR) from travelnow.com, anyone know if that would get any cheaper as it comes closer to the date or the opposite that it rises? (BMI quoted me €900!!! lol) Anyone know of anywhere that I might get it cheaper, tried all the links in the sticky. Also, are tickets open, as in if i needed to return home after 1 month, is it possable to go home early or would I have to get another ticket? Do companys allow open tickets?

Second thing is accommodation. Found a handy site for searching for appartments and the likes, www.sublet.com . Has anyone ever used them before? Either way I've spotted some nice places to stay, but will have to wait closer to the date to rent a place as they keep changing and different appartments keep popping up for summer rentals and the like. Anyone know of any other sites / places where I might be able to book an apartment and not have to worry too much about it? Any help appreciated.

    Thanks all,
    Rob

Can't help you with anything else, but I found out about a new airline setting up in May. They fly from Gatwick and Glasgow. They don't fly to Montreal, but they do go to Ottawa which is quite near, and Toronto which is a bit further away. It's very cheap, so you can afford to get a flight after that to Montreal. When I heard about this airline I thought it was dodgy, but apparently from what I've read on their website, they seem genuine. I'm planning on using them to go to Canada in a few months myself. Anyway, here's the link - http://www.flyzoom.com/

Just checked your dates for you on that site (flying from Gatwick to Ottawa) and taking the most expensive flights, it worked out at £320 (about 460 euro)

Only thing is they don't fly that often.

IMO its better to fly to Pearson in Toronto and then get the bus to Montreal, its
only about 8 hours from Toronto to Montreal and the buses go every few hours with 1 stop over as as i can remember but it will probably save you a fortune...

You can get direct flights to Toronto from Dublin with Air Canada or Air Transat (French Canadian Airline), who are relatively cheap and saves an extra 2 hours in the air and waiting in the airports like Heathrow/Gatwick.. Both only operate between April/May and October so might be worth checking out their websites and you could book directly.

    Air Transat

    Air Canada

humm have being taking a look at those sites and have come to the conclusion that it might be worth it just getting the direct flight to montreal. I'd save about €120ish if I was to fly to one of the other Cities instead, but tbh the extra 8 hrs plus hassle of getting busses and dragging the luggage about not to sure where i'm going isn't quite worth it! Humm... Still kinda interested to see if it's an open ticket, gonna read the fine print when i have time :) thanks for the help all.

I was over there last summer.
The internal flights can be expensive.
I think I paid about 150 - 200 euro to fly from toronto to montreal return.
Still it beats 5 hours on the train.

    It was with canjet (www.canjet.ca).
They don't seem to be doing the toronto montreal route at the moment, could be a seasonal thing.
    I flew back in June.
Taxes and charges can add a lot to a fare.

Fare and Charges Detail: Total for 02 guest(s) Fare: 296.00
    Nav-Fuel-Ins Surcharge: 160.00
    GST- HST: 33.76
    AIF: 55.90
    Security Tax: 26.14
    Total: $571.80
