    Hey there
I'm looking for a reccommendation of a first person shooter to play. I have played loads of em already (wolfenstein, medal of honour, half life, unreal, quake, max payne, soldier of fortune, hitman, battlefield 1942 to name but a few).

I'm just looking for something to tide me over until I get my hands on the new halflife and doom

    anybody?

    thanks

    KR

if you like the world war 2 ones, call of duty is good i hear.

if u want to get some on the cheap u cant go wrong with some classics:

    system shock 2
    or the original deus ex.

If you want something ultra-realistic and mighty mighty cool Rainbox Six 3 is damn sharp.

Also there's max payne 2, short but sweet.

And Halo is out for pc now...

If you have broadband and like wolfenstein get a hold of wolfenstein - enemy territory, its completely free - online only but its a lot of fun.

    call of duty.

appears to be just a moh clone at first, but oh its so much better.

Jedi Knight- Dark Forces 2 is a bit clunky looking these days, but the level design is very, very good.

Jedi Knight 2 is excellent, too.

Surely you mean Rogue Spear and not the arcade conversion on the Xbox? Id recommend Hidden and Dangerous 2 - play it as FPS, 3rd person, RTS, your choice..

If you have broadband then I would recommend Planetside. Excellent game!

    Hidden & Dangerous 2
Max Payne 2 (not quite fps but damn sweet all the same!)
    Aliens Vs Predator 2

    to name but a few

He's already played HL, and DoD is infact just a MOD, so rather than buy it, just download it :)

As for CoD: if you liked MoH (i thought it stank), and you liked Ghost Recon (i thought it rocked), you'll like CoD (i think its OK :)).

SP is Call of Duty is decent, if a bit short, but the MP is simplistic at best, nothing new at all, and simply inferior to Ghost Recon in every way IMO.

Don't touch this game with a 6 foot barge pole if I were you.

Seen as you've played everything else, look up some Half Life mods.
Azure Sheep and Poke 646 are two single player mods which are terrific fun and very, very well made.

Stay away from Halo on pc, it would have been good if it was released about 2 or 3 years earlier around the time it was released on xbox.

I'd have to disagree, as with most FPS it plays far better on PC, and apparently has good net code – if you do get it, all the EU Bungie servers are hosted in Ireland.

    AVP2, mmm.

Also, dunno if it's your type of game, but Operating Flashpoint is great.

Another vote for Call of Duty - only €30 in my local Xtravision.

Also an overlooked classic - No one lives forever 2. If you are sufficiently confident in you own sexuality that you can get over playing as a girlie this is superb.

Without a doubt the best fps I currently have in my collection, It's also one of the funniest games i've played. The RTCW super soldier piss take is quite brilliant. The character developement was pretty much perfect for a fps-not too rpg'ish or anything. And it has the shiniest lava I've ever seen.

People have recommended AvP 2, although it's a great game, i found the first one far better in most cases, either game will scare the crap out of you anyway. However the first one is rather daunting if you dont like much of a challenge.

As someone already said get enemy territory seeing as its free and one seriously good multi player game.

Single player - Call of Duty
Multiplayer - Urban Terror mod for Quake3. Unfortunately, the latest versions aren't quite as much fun, but if you can get your hands on beta2.3, you're laughing.
