ouch ouch ouch , woke up last night around 3:30 with a god awful pain in my ear , I have never felt anything so dam painful . Im usually alright with pain but i was about to bang my head against the wall with this and it brought tears to my eyes . Ive had earaches before loads of times , but years ago and not half this bad - took 3 paracetemol (sp?) and eventually 2 disprin aswell they didnt seem to work , at around 7 this morning this morning the pain quite suddenly stopped and I went to sleep , im just after waking up now and theres somthing wrong with the hearing the earache ear .

Was listening to music and it sounds strange.... its like theres a tiny stereo in my earache ear re-playing the sounds im hearing at a really low volume , So I hear somthing and then I hear it again really low and kinda twisted if that makes any sence ,

    anny ideas ?

I'd suggest Tropex ... they are ear drops you can get in a cemist.

something to do with softening ear wax, I wear headphones alot and I think by the wax hardening its protecting your ears.. gross I know.

I used to have that a few years back.. and when I went to the doctor he thought it was a build up of wax and syringed it ... this wasn't the case and a bit of the hard wax was on the eardrum, when he syringed it .. .it ripped a hole in my ear drum  .. twas the most painful thing I've ever experienced.

but that tropex stuff works ... chlorine seems to aggrivate it aswell ... put bout 4 drops in your ear and tilt your head *lie down* for bout 10 mins till it goes into your ear ... probably best to do it before you go to sleep and lie on your side ... put some cotton wool in you ear so it doesn't drip out if you roll over! :p

when you wake up it should feel a whole lot better .. ye may need to do it every second night for bout 6 nights *3 times* .. if its that bad now....

failing that take 2 disprin and see me in the morning! :D

if i were u i wud go straight to DOC.
i had what i think was an ear infection before.. But didnt go to the doctor.
Just took paracetemol.... took ages to go away.
After it went away my ear still felt a bit soar every now and then and its very soar today so im going straight to the doc.

    Tusky,

I think 'KlodaX' is talking about 'Earex' which softens the hardened wax in your ear which is usually causing the earache, which can be extremely painful.

Warm it up by steeping the bottle in hot water in the sink or a cup, the "warm" [not hot!] Earex which is oily melts the hard wax quicker.

Follow the instructions, which also instruct you to remove the cotton wool after a few minutes !, do not leave in ear channel, otherwise how is the melted wax going to get out ?..

I know people that have very successfully used warm 'olive oil' for the same problem.

If it has not cleared up in a few days. It's the Doc I am afraid.

I know this because I myself have just finished using a bottle of Earex for the same problem. It took a few days and the full bottle, but it has worked ! Begobbers.

    P.:ninja:

    OUCHHHHH!!
Reminds me of an ear infection that I had 3 years ago...in both ears, the most painful week that I have ever had!!! Cos the pain goes all over your face, down to your neck and up to your head...AGHH Oh the thought of it all again.

Anyway, I just wanna share my experience on syringing, I've had mine syringed several times, and it was fine, but you HAVE to have applied a lot of ear drops, like a few days of them and that will help to soften the wax and should make the syringing a painless experience...afterwards, you will hear a pin drop! But if you don't soften the wax a bit, then syringing can be painful!

Anyway, best of luck, but defo go and see a doctor!

it ripped a hole in my ear drum .. twas the most painful thing I've ever experienced.

i got a hole in my eardrum from swimming when i was younger and have little or no hearing in that ear anymore...despite several failed operations to fix it. same with you or is it a different kind of hole? (just wondering cos you didn't mention unhearing or not being allowed swim)
