Can someone please explain what they were thinking when this movie was made?

    HL 1
Connor is a noob who meets James Bond and learns to be a kick ass mofo who then kills the bad guy to be the one and win the "prize".

    HL 2
Connor is an old man in an 1984 type world who is suddenly becomes an alien terrorist from an alien planet who puts a spanner in the works of the evil overlord of the universe with the help of a back from the dead James Bond to win the day.

    HL 3
Connor is in a flash back movie to prior to the events of HL 2, learns he is not the one as an evil wizzard gets free from a cave, learns magic and wins the day.

    HL 4
Connor lose's his head to his cousin who along with 50 billion other immortals who popped up over night and his cousin then wins the day with the help of Connors magic head.

Now I dont know about you gentle reader, but some movie exec really needs to stop making movies based on such crap scripts.

The first movie was a classic, but due to the specifics of the story, no sequel should ever have been made. Making a sequel tore the heart out of it.

There should have only been one, but they managed to bollock that up.

The one actor with a scottish accent they had, and he WASN'T Macloud. WTF?

I thought i saw all the highlanders but the somments you made for 2,3 mean nothing to me. I thought in 2 or was it 3 he was a scientest who made a dome to protect the earth from the sun - i remember some "back to the future 2" hover board jinks aswell but nothing more.

if a highlander 4 is in the works then i'd avoid it like the plague unless its already been releases as highlander 4 :the last samurai ;)

    Seán Connery?

He played an Egyptian, strangely enough... despite his unshakeable accent.

I thought he was supposed to be a Spaniard?

Highlander: Endgame is a follow-up to the TV series.
Highlander 2 makes no sense. Highlander 3 makes sense if its set before the first one.

And to make things worse they're making a fifth one call Highlander: The Source, which has a character from the TV series who's apparently the oldest immortal.

And then there's The Immortal ...

Jesus - I seriously thought they finished with 2 or maybe there was a 3 but 4!! thats just taking the piss

The first one was a bit of a sham anyway - a french actor who cant do accents as the scottish guy and a scottish actor who cant do accents as the spanish guy !! -- only in hollywood

According to this web page, McLeod was "befriended and instructed by another "good" Immortal (Sean Connery) who is really an ancient Egyptian".

    /me shrugs

... and no, I don't frequent ChristianAnswers.net -... that was just a result from a Google search for "connery highlander character egyptian" :D

And presumably he was living in Scotland for 600 years or something, so no wonder he picked up the accent.

was that in the film that james bond was hanging around scotland for the last 600 years - but he still kept his spanish silky clothes ???

Aye, Highlander 4 did indeed blow greatly.

And the fact that they had Donnie Yen in it, and he barely had any kick-ass time, just makes it all the more bitter. If I was doing the film again, it would just be Donnie kicking the living **** out of everyone, especially the writers.

Yes, I unfortunately tortured myself by trying to watch it last night. It was rubbish. But the film on after it (Inseminoid) was actually worse, it was some sci-fi horror, I lasted about 2 minutes and had to turn it off.

    D.

Just have to agree with you there
Luckily enough I was surfing at the time - did I miss any of the plot :D

yeah Inseminoid was really bad - yer one cutting off her foot and then freezing to death <click>

Highlander great film (even if they claimed to have made the samuri sword in 600 BC)

Higlander 4, all the existing immortals seemed to have 100+ frags, taking into account that most of those would also have fragged a couple by then and population sizes - well lets just say it's a good thing you can't drown them cos they'd never fit on the arc.

If it was me I'd have a couple of tungsten carbide neck implants ASAP.

Was the 4th one supposed to be a prequel to number 2 as well? That would mean he'd have to get his head reattached in order for him to go on to save the world from the sun with his freaky dome.

Not too sorry I missed this one

Actually after staying up after H4 to watch inseminoid Im remembing H4 quite fondly - Stephanie Beecham sinks to a new low lol. Done a bit better it could have been a good highlander 2.

And as for the spoiler smiaras I think we were meant to assume that the cannon fodder bad guys had been helping the main bad guy to trap the 600+ immortals before he offed their heads.

has noone realised that h3 was just the original with a different looking villian???
i mean, he had the same grouchy voice, he went on a mental car ride with mcclouds son
in replacement of his wife, and how could he have gotten the prize in the original
if the mongolian guy was in the cave??

stupidest sequel ever, worse than speed2

i dunno wasnt that bad, i have the american version dvd which is slightly longer than what was shown on the bbc the other night, and puts the story in a whole new light because it explains the story a whole lot better

The fourth film was more a sequel to the series than the previous films, all of the secondary characters were from the series. It was a seriously bad film in every sense.

FYI: the Highlander series is repeated starting tonight on FX a new channel on sky digital.

I dont know...H2 ranks up there with sucky sequels. Although Speed 2 does get the crown.

in H2 he was a scientist who helped put a shield over the earth to protect it from the sun cause the ozone layer was gone tthen he gave up the prize so he could be mortal the aliens that inhabited earth were all imortals from god knows were and when he killed one of them it gave him the prize back and brought back his youth and H4 god know maybe connor brings him back like Duncan brought back raimarez(connery) in H3 i dont know really just a thought in explaining it.

Im in the process of rewatching seasons 1 to 3 of Highlander on dvd. Very enjoyable.

The Immortal has nothing to do with Highlander. None of the films are as bad as it. I managed two three minute sittings before I turned it off and swore never again. And you know what I havent seen it since. Lorenza Lamas should be tried for crimes against humanity.

I gave up after watching highlander 2 which was rediculous.

As for Sean Connery's accent. Well... he doesn't give a shít about trying to put on an accent. I think he might have tried it once and it didn't work, so he just sticks to his own, and might I add, gets away with it quite fine I reckon.
