Just to liven the place up a bit.

I'll do mine first. Hopefully in a few months, I'll be living in Canada (in Alberta), and then for the summer holidays, we're thinking of visiting the Maritime provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador). None of this is definite at the moment but that's what I'm hoping happens.

    Anyone else care to tell?

I used to go on 4 holidays a year - a ski holiday, 2 city breaks and a sun holiday. We were working fulltime and had no kids. Now we have 2 of them and holidays are a rarity. Also I'm on a year's leave of absence from work, so money is scarce. However, we're going to the Algarve in May. It was a good deal we got for less than a grand. I'm looking forward to it, except for the flights (trying to keep them entertained will be a challenge!)

I was gonna head over to the states for a few weeks around August, New York, New Orleans and Dallas. I'm increasingly put off with all this talk about biometric passports, fingerprinting, etc., so now I am planning to go to South America instead, particularly Brazil and Argentina.

Bicycling around Europe, taking a ferry to Cherbourg and going on a whim from there.

What you will need for the US is the newer type of passport, the one with the purple cover. They have been issuing these for a good few years now. Its the old hand written, green coloured ones they will not accept from October on.

Going back to SE Asia at some point this year.
Going to Malaysia, Thailand and possibly Vietnam. Might try to make it to Singapore too, even for a day or 2. Although I said that last year, and the year before :)

US/Canada for four months doing lots of snowboarding (feb-june)
head to central america (mexico) for two months (june - Aug)
down to South america for 2-3 months (Aug-Oct)
then over to Auckland for anything up to a year.

If anone is going to be in these areas over those timeframes, we should meet up!

Those purple passports have been around for just shy of 20 years IIRC. Mind you some of the early ones were still handwritten (my one year passport from 1991 had a purple "EU is good, god save the EU (or EC at the time I'd imagine)" cover and was handwritten. I put myself down for two inches taller than I was, expecting I'd grow into it. I didn't.)

Oh yeah, I'm going nowhere this year. Poor as hell now I'm back in college and college grant still hasn't come through (nice letter saying it would do though - I can eat that instead), it'll pay off half my credit card when it does.

Up until quite recently, even the purple ones were handwritten if they were issued by an Irish embassy. I had one myself until the last renewal.

Where I'd like to go this year: Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Depends on cash flow though.
