I'll bump this thread up, I'm looking for cheap Parisian hostels myself.

Have you found anything yourself beezkneez?

The cheapest "clean" hotels in France are the Formule 1:

There'ren't any in the center of Paris in such but few around...
Like this one, Porte de Chatillon:
    http://www.hotelformule1.com/formule1/index.html

38 euro for a bedroom with 1 double-bed and one single. No shower in the room.

Or for a little bit more expensive with "en suite!" there's Etap Hotel (48€ the room):

You can start your search from here:

No hostels in the centre of Paris by my memory!

There's one above in Montmartre (near Sacre Coeur) as I recall. A bit of a seedy area at night
I suppose you could say 'full of character'

I've stayed in in an ok small hotel in the north Marais (Arr3e), about 65 bucks, 15 min walk to the Seine.

I can dig out the name if the price is in budget!

I've just booked accomodation through this site . Hopefully it turns out ok.

Price is reasonable although I made a bit of a mistake.
I booked Hotel Commines for 4 nights at 28e per night for single room. Pretty good except that this was not available for the 2nd 2 nights for which I will be in a 3 bed room - which I don't have a problem with.

The problem is that I've booked all 3 beds! at 15e a bed it's not too bad a mistake and if it turns out ok I'll remember it for the future if there's ever a gang of us going over.

I'll try remember to post in April and let ye know if the place was ok or not...

great stuff, looks good. pity there are no twin rooms but the three bed room (double & single) is so cheap you could split ti between two and still be paying virtually nothing. wonder if its a handy location for sights etc?

fair play for the tip off...

I lived near there for a year. It's in the middle of the Marais close to the Place de Vosges - one of the most fashionable places in Paris

Don't know what the hotel's like but the area is just A1, beside everything and 10 mins from the Seine. Can't go wrong !

Let us know how you get on !

ended up booking through hostelworld.com. hotel armstrong it was called and was only 20 a nite and it was a hotel. its abit out of the center but was clean, very reasonable and beside a metro station which is all that matters as you can go anywhere fairly fast for 1.30. had a ball but was disappointed with the price of drink, knew it was going to be expensive but 7yoyos for a pint is just ridiculous.
lovely city tho, lots to do and see.

Obviously it depends on your definition of central (to me it would be anywhere within the periphique) but there's plenty of hostels in central paris.
