A analog or digital NTL/Chorus/Cable/MMDS decode is NO USE AT ALL for any kind of Satellite, Analog, Hybrid (D2MAC) or Digital DVB.

For now it does not matter if an Analog Satellite receiver has a Sky card slot or not. No-one transmits videocrypt. Perhaps RAI on 13e Analog occasionally use an old form of Syster or Nagravision, something. The videocrypt board does nothing if there is no videocrypt singnal.

    What is your application?

    1) Analog Satellite from 19E or 13E (PAL) using low band
    2) Analog Secam from 5 degrees using high band (need Telecom LNB or Universal LNB and 22KHz tone on)
    3) Direct ATV (1.2 .. 1.3GHZ ) recievr
    4) Security camera receiver (1.4GHz)

    5) Video sender via a 2.4GHz to 1.9GHz convertor

    6) Someting else I never heard of?

    Indeed Mossy, LONG gone.

Five was the last UK channel to go (not counting Eurosport, Bloomberg UK and CNN as these are not really UK channels).

The Sky pay channels maybe 6 mths or a year before "5" closed.

BBC Radio was the last UK radio to go (it was on a German TV stations subcarrier), some time later.

Isn't ironic thazt after a power cut my two analog receivers return to CNN and BBC World respectively (or WHATEVER channel I last watched), while the "Advanced" Digibox goes to "standby" (really just AV mute and not a true standby) and then the Sky "Buy a Sub Channel we are wonderful" appears. Pain in neck!

RAI use a very primitive encryption - can't remember the name the linesync pulse is on one of 3 positions, semi watchable !

If anyone has an old analogue receiver, particularly a pace one lying about I would gladly take it off your hands.
