Insanely slow machine

    Hi all

I am running Windows 2000 on a machine in work here, the other specs are

    (taken from funning DxDiag)

Operating System: Windows 2000 Professional (5.0, Build 2195) Service Pack 3
    Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
    Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.4GHz
    Memory: 256MB RAM
    Hardrive: Partitioned 40 gig

I have varying programs installed on the machine - Photoshop, Homesite, etc

But the machine is insanely slow in loading up programs like Word, etc

What would be the best recommendation to speed up the machine ( I have already removed unused or unwanted programs, and ran disk defragmenter) - as to open even a 60k document takes over 1 minute

Keeping in mind that I may have 2-3 other applications open at the same time (outlook, explorer, homesite)

    any ideas?
