I've a UK contract here with Sky and I've just bought a Sky plus Box will I just need to ring SKY and give them the details. I'll say I have probs with my BT line. Does anyone know the number to ring to get it activated. I use UTV for phone calls so my friend in England they say my number comes up as private caller.

The number is printed on the back of the Viewing Card.

I know but there is another number that you can use for manual installations or there was.

Theres no probs, you just ring up the number in the uk on your card and ask them to pair your card with the new sky plus box, all the while keeping up the pretense that you are in the UK.

There is a separate UK number to activate Sky plus, so ask for that when you are on to them.
Two calls unfortunately, but then you like me will get sky plus switched on with a UK sub in ROI.

Cheers Man for that. By the by have you noticed that Sky Cust services have stopped the Indian customer service centre or is it just when I've rang.

They wouldn't activate my Sky+ box without a prior callback from the box itself (this was last year though).

I would imagine the Indian call centre is just used as an overspill during peak periods.

I take that about the Indian call centre!. I told them I'm having a prob with my ISDN lines(which is true) only the wrong ISDN is in the wrong country.Said it could take up 4 hrs for it to be activated.

TRAC sat systems say that SKY wont pair or "authorise" cards for sky plus boxes on UK subs without a phone connection. Is this the case? I have heard that people here have got it done by juts phonin the UK number and using their UK sub details?

sky must be losing out if they insist on people having sky + connected to a tel line. There should be no need if u have a contract going back years.

Trac sat keep saying a UK sky + card and the recordin facility wont be enabled unless u use phone connection? I dont think this is right??

I think you'll find sky changed the rules and for sky + they want tel line connected. This was not the case until about nov last year. I read the reason as well but it didn't make sense to me something about mirror subs.

Sky told me that I did not need to have my Sky + box connected to the phone line at any time and that was last Friday.

well that is really great news as far as I am concerned and last Friday is not November so things are looking up.
