So who's your tip for Superbowl glory this year. My 40/1 bet for the Packers this year is looking better than ever but there's still some tough matches coming up. If I was being realistic I'd have to go for New England.

I'd like to see Green Bay win cause I think Farve really deserves to get a ring

Could be hard with the Titan's(McNair),Colt's(Manning),Eagles(McNabb) all trying to get a piece of silverware

I feel Titans could sneak it. Packers were lucky last weekend. The colts also are worth a shot if Peyton Manning keeps up the form he was in last Sunday, throwing for 5 touch downs and making 377yds. If Eddie George is fit for the Titans he might help.

while we're on the subject of NFL, does anyone know where i can buy some merchandise apart from www.nfl.com. I'm lookin for any irish shops that might sell some stuff or uk retailers.

This looks like a good site from the UK. I've never used it myself but there's loads of stuff and it delivers worldwide. Also it does the prices in euros if you go to currency at the top of the page.

new england have the best overall team and a great coach so it will be hard to beat them..

The fact is that its very very very rare for a team to play in the wildcard games and get to the superbowl, let alone win it. The teams who have had a week off have a big advantage, letting some of the wounds heal and get some nrg back together.

I would love Kansas City to win it (and with Priest Holmes they have someone who can score a touchdown from any situation), but my head still says New England.

(Im fairly sure favre already has a ring from 97, so he should not be greedy :). He will need a huge day to get past the engles this weekend, as they have been very good this season)

Favre does indeed have a ring. I'm not so sure the game is going to be in his hands tonight though. With the Eagles dreadful run defense it could be up to Ahman Green to win the game for Green bay. A Green Bay win is not so far fecthed. Personally I think they will do it and roll into Carolina for what will be the most unlikely of all championship games.

There used to be a great NFL thread here but it died out. Lets get another one going!

You can gte merchandise from nfluk.com as well, kensutz.

Did anyone watch the games last nite? Rams and Panthers? What a game, esp when it went into overtime and both missed field goals.Pats and Titans was also very good, I'd say after tonights games we can call on a winner. Now since the Titans are gone I hope the Packers win it.

I saw the games last night they were unreal.

The panthers and ram's was the best.

What a touchdown to win the game.

The games tonight should be class

Packers Eagles could be one of the best games ever

bah kansas lost, there goes my outside 'what the ehll' bet :)

Eagles look good contenders especially after their win over Green Bay last night but might struggle against the inform Carolina.

New England will beat the Colts to progress but wont get it all their own way.

Just found out that Im starting a new job at 8.30 the morning after the Superbowl, this could be the first one Ill have missed in years.

    Prediction:
    NE V Eagles final
    Probably NE to win

I can't believe the Packers threw it away last night. There goes my possible 200 euro winfall. Eagles 4th and 26 with less than 2 mins on the clock and they got a first down ( were 3 points down at this stage). I nearly kicked the TV in. Thought that was bad until overtime when Farve threw a balloon ball for a interception. I can't believe a player of his experiance would throw a pass like that. Hope the Eagles get stuffed by the Panthers. New England have it in the bag though.

Yeh for the fourth and 26 they didnt seem to be covering at all

And what the hell was Farve doing???

He is known to do that throught out his career

Chances are he could retire now

Colts are on fire right now... I can't see them losing, even to New England.

Colts over Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Manning really is running the show but you have to question their defence especially against the run, Holmes tore them up last week. If it snows I'll say Patriots if it's dry they'll have a decent shot. Although if Colts get to the Superbowl they will have no trouble against the Panthers or Eagles.

Has to be New England after Farve decided to 'throw' the game away on OT on Sunday.

I could see Carolina sneaking it by a scoreline of 17-13 or something like that. It's gonna be very close.

I think Carolina are going to beat the New England 24 to 21

I hope Carolina win it too. I've never liked the Patriots.
Also I have a bet on with one of my friends. Panthers +3 points to win.

DOH. The line is 6.5 at the moment. I'm thinking the game is definitely going to be close with the panthers pulling it out in the last few minutes.

Well diabolical first quarter for Carolina in terms of offence. No yards made at all. Defence held up very nicely with Witherspoon getting some nice tackles in.
That 4th and Inches was never a first down either.
Patriots were far stronger in the 1st quarter offensively and held it down nicely defensively too.
2nd Quarter looked like it was going to go the same way but my how it picked up. Carolina the more impressive of the two in my opinion why they finally got some flow to their offensive plays.
Too bad it's half time because things are just getting good.

    Half time score:
    New England 14 - Carolina 10

What a game this turned out to be.
Well worth staying up for even if I have to be up in 3 and a half hours.
Some superb football on display in the second half, it picked up right where the second quarter left off.
That was some pass to Mohammod for the TD. 85 yards, unreal especially considering it was third down.
I feel gutted for Carolina though. If they hadn't gone for the 2 extra points they would have won it. I suppose you have to make a quick decision and it proved to be the wrong one.
That final kick off killed them though. Brought back to the 40 yard line, he was kicking well up til then too.
Fair play to the Pats though, they held their nerve. Missing those first two fgs in the first half must have pilled on the pressure but he nailed it.

    Final Score:
    New England 32 - Carolina 29

it was a great game alright! some excellent D through out the match esp in the 1st quarter! overall a cracker of a game! :D

anyone got a link for highlights?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,204 ✭✭✭kensutz

What a match. Everyone was right that it was gonna be close and my god it was. It was well worth staying up all night and then going into work a few hrs later. I cant stop talking about it. Delhomme was very unlucky after he picked up his game, well played on both sides

Here's a weird fact for ya

Any kick that Vinateri has missed during an indoor match gas benn at the Reliant Stadium, four in total

I knew he would get the game winner when he stepped up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,204 ✭✭✭kensutz

How ironic could u get? Missing all the kicks then scoring the one thats needed.
