yeah, the bbc3 show was a disgrace.

carrotcake, did you like the original series', or were you not a fan at all?

-hopefully he has new material, when he stopped i thought it was because he was so well known he couldnt get away with it anymore, which is why doing it in a totally seperate country is a good idea if you can back it up.

no, i liked the original one. with the us version it seemed as if dom joly was there just for the sake of it, and that he was just some little unknown man with two much more important americans. it didn't feel like it was his show at all. plus it was made with an american audience in mind, so i didn't find it as funny (not a stab at american humour, just a cultural difference thing)

Saw a bit of an episode and it wasent anything too great. But i have to say I laughed a lot at one sketch.
They had put up a sign saying "Gay and Lesbian parking only" and had the woman in a police offiers outfit. Some guy parked and she went over and told him it was gay n' lesbian parking only and asked for his sexual preferance. The guy started getting quite annoyed as he said he wasent gay and she asked him to move the car.

All he had to do was pretend he was a male lesbian :)

Did he have the patented Sean Connery "I'm only doing thish for the monney" look as featured in Never Say Never Again?

Wasnt great last night. Mondays was good though. The key to the toilet and the preacher were funny.

I missed it last night, but seen it Monday. I think it was less good than either of the UK series - just not as funny, though the music was good as ever.

It is clear that the concept has been developed for the US audience, with their notorious lack of irony. The whole blurred faces thing suggested a much more careful approach to the production - its more candid camera that Trigger Happy. I think the show could've been a lot funnier if it was shot in the US but made for a UK audience.

The very fact that Channel 4 are running this as a nightly series rather than a weekly episode as per the originals suggest that even they themselves don't see as much merit in the show.

It was still pretty good, not as good as the original series. The Cheerleader is annoying. Dom's heart doesnt seem to be in it it's like he just turned up for the money:)

yeah couldnt agree more, it would have been brilliant if they made it for the UK audience
