    Too right.
I've often wondered why the Consumer Association is so weak and ineffectual here.
Also there are no consumer watchdog type shows in Ireland while the UK has several.

I could be wrong, but I get the impression that the Consumer Association isn't a Government mandated regulatory authority. That being said, I can't see any reason why they couldn't come out with some strong pronouncements, such as: "Don't buy $this from $them." Perhaps they're afraid of getting sued.

Also there are no consumer watchdog type shows in Ireland while the UK has several.

I would have thought TV3 would have jumped on this. RTE doesn't have the balls.

Lorraine Keane refused to present it... told them straight out it wasn't 'her' . TV3 had no Plan B as usual .

I have no faith in consumer watchdog TV shows. They're only interested in ratings, and facts don't always get viewers. Although I accept they may serve in some small way to raise consumer awareness in a very general sense.

You don't need to go halfway around the world

Belgian consumer watchdog Test-Achats (Test Aankoop), known for its crusade against Nokia's "unsafe batteries", starts the new year with a fresh assault on the music industry. It is taking the music giants EMI, Sony, BMG Music and Universal Music to court for installing anti-piracy systems on their audio CDs.

TG4 are thinking of doing one . The format will involve using small DV cams and individual Diary type sections to catch the price gougers in action I hear.
