I have not seen anything about it on Sky One or N2.

Sky One have plenty of add for the new years viewing with lots of new shows etc but nothing about 24 and there is nothing on there website about it, are we defo that it is going to Sky?

    And N2 have said nothing.

    :(

Of course I will prob see something to night about it.

    starts in February on Sky

have RTÉ even got the rights to show it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,483 ✭✭✭Töpher

Sky One have started showing ads for it now. Not as regular as Nip/Tuck ads tho. As said above by others, tis to be in February supposedly.

Its not listed in RTE's list of programs, but that probably means nowt!

Hope RTE get to show it in the spring, otherwise I'll have to get it taped at home every week- still living in 4 channel land! :(

Broadband is the only way to go. I have seen all of the Season 3 episodes within a few days of their airing in the US

Don't worry about it, you will be left disappointed when it comes on anyway. It is not even nearly as good as the previous two series.

since when has Sky One Mix been on Freeview?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,608 ✭✭✭✭sceptre

Bah, my mistake Mossy (just checked the freeview site and it isn't). I heard it was going to be (explaining lack of Simpsons etc) and assumed that it was.

i think it is Sky Travel they are turning into the Freeview general entertainment channel what with them showing some films and things like Miss World and The Villa

Try This for all upcoming stuff on Sky

doesn't tell us weather or not RTE have the show.

Or who will be showing the show on terristrale (sp?) TV in the UK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 815 ✭✭✭mickeyboymel

It wont be shown on terrestrial in the uk, the BBC lost it due to concerns by the production company that its (the BBC's) output could be seen outside the UK on non encripted free to air satellite, raising a little concern about future imports.

Dont know anything about RTE, but this issue would not effect them as their satellite signals are only available on subscription.

Sorry Mossy - thats what I meant to say, once shown first on Sky anyone can bid for it, eg The Simpsons

Yeah but not for a while - which is why we don't see any of the really new episodes out of Sky. I know that when they buy the package they get the right to air the show a number of times often - say 3 or 4. After that they can't air the new episode and only then can other channels show it.

    Just got this from RTE

We have the new series of 24 under licence, but we do not have a
    transmission
    date at this time.

    - RTÉ Information Office.

    Yeah!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

so i'll be watching on Sky 1

RTÉ are minus four potential viewers from this house

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,641 ✭✭✭✭Elmo

so i'll be watching on Sky 1

Why? have sky given a date?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

no but at least i know Sky will show it in February

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,255 ✭✭✭TCamen

The Satellite Monthly for February have a feature on '24' starting on Sky One. It says check Sky for listings cos they still haven't confirmed a start date.

However in the magazine, Sundays @ 10pm on Sky One are all 'TBA' so it could mean that Sky are planning it for Sunday nights like on BBC2, only they haven't picked the exact Sunday to start airing it yet.

Sky confirmed a couple of days ago that 24 will begin airing on Thursday the 12th February at 9.00pm. Jake 2.0 will precede it at 8.00pm and Cold Case will follow it at 10.00pm. The repeat of 24 will air on Sunday nights at 10.00pm on Sky One Mix. It will be going up against Friends and E.R on E4 in Britain so it will be interesting to see who wins that ratings battle!

    Cool!

    Charmed is on Living @ 8pm, so I'll skip Jake 2.0, but '24' will fit in nicely @ 9pm, before Survivor @ 10pm on TG4 :D

This is the reply one of the members of the Digital Spy Forums got when he e-mailed RTE regarding the starting date for 24!

    RTE secure rights
Thank you for your e-mail, and apologies for the delay in responding.
RTÉ has secured the rights to series 3 of the programme series 24. It has been scheduled to start on the 10th February on Network 2 at 10pm. This is a provisional date and is subject to change. Please watch out in the tv listings for confirmation.
Thank you for your support of RTÉ.
    Kind Regards

    Brigitte
    RTÉ Communications

So it looks like RTE will beat Sky in starting the season after all!

Well, we'll have no excuse for missing an episode if it's showing three times, maybe four in one week!
