Well all did not go according to plan, basically my gf spent most if not all of her time speaking to her family, after a few days in paris we went to maiche (near the swiss border), this place was awful a small quiet town with nothing to do. We only went out walking twice in a week, my only escape was to go swimming. I had to endure meals that were pointlessly long, where everyone was in deep conversation while i sat bored to tears unable to communicate. We then went to brittany which was ok then back to paris. To be honest i loved paris, then the "magical" christmas ended when we got home and presently split up. All in all not the best christmas ever, still it wasn't all bad, a lot of it boring, but not bad.

    maybe im bitter

therein lies the problem, you see I found out that she is the troublemaker of the family, always bitter and egar to start fights. As such she would only translate things i said to her at the table that were meant for her (usually something about the food), she would then translate these things to everybody and i could tell from her voice and other peoples reactions that it was made out to be an insult. It was her mother that used to ask me questions (few) in english and her grandmother would use simply french words for me for offering me things. Only once after giving out to her did she involve me in the conversation by translating things and allow me to respond (which i often did to her mother in english or to everyone in simple french).

im not sure, its in french comté (sp), its 12km from the swiss border (its north of the border)

it is a beautiful region, but like i said we only went out on walks twice. once to the nearby swiss mountains and once to hills/sky slope in a nearby town. I got some fantastic pictures on the second one
