OK. I think we have established there is plenty of interest in a regular boards poker night. It also looks like the majority think the Fitzwilliam Club is the best venue ( I actually voted for the other option but have since changed my mind). This is all good. i'm sure it will be organised in a week or two and much fun will be had by all. One problem, I can't wait. I am going to the free entry tourney next week but really want a home game under my belt first ( I have never actually played hold 'em with real cards). I am willing to host a poker night and so is DeVore. Would anyone be interested in having a home game in either of these two venues or is anyone having a game with a spare seat or two? If so please make yourselves known so we can get something together before next Thursday.

PS I have no chips but I do have decent cards.

It does sound like fun. Work permitting I'd be up for it, I may be able to drag along Lafortezza with his set of sparkling new poker chips also.

Cool. Apparently I live quite near Lafortezza. I will probably be buying chips soon, just not soon enough. Been looking at www.casinosupply.com seem fairly cheap.

Where do you live? When are you thinking of cos Wednesday is out which leave tonight or tomorrow!

I'm going to play in the free tourney on Thursday too, maybe we should have a bit of a boards poker-forum social meet up before hand as it looks like a lot of people are going to be there.

I'm happy to play tonight/tomorrow from 8 onwards but would want to know by 6. We have crappy chips here that are in Lira but they work :)

    20 quid in, and we give top three 1/2 , 1/3 , 1/6 ?

Ok this is too disorganised to do tonight. So, I suggest this:

We meet in my place on Thursday before the tournie and warmup a bit as well as get to know each other.

I dont know what time the tournie starts at (before xmas they started at 6:30 , last night they didnt start until 9:30 which I think is more usual).
We can play and hour or so just to get into the swing and then walk around (I live only about 5 mins from the place.... very very bad news for my bank account).

Anyone who wants in PM me and I'll give you my address etc. I'm presuming
    Dapper
    LaFortezza
    Hyzepher
    Muso
    and 1 or 2 others?

This Thursday is New Years Eve. I was presuming that it would not be on. I can't make it this Thursday.

Free Entry games are usually on Thursdays at 9:30. Christmas has messed everything up but I'm quite sure that there is no free game on this Thursday as there is a €75 game on instead. I presume the next free entry is on Thurs. 8th at 9:30. The only reason the free entry was on at 6:30 the other week was because the €250 started at 9:30.

All this info is just what I read when I was in there 2 weeks ago, you probably should ring to make sure.

Thursday is New Years Day, not Eve.
    I'll ring and find out.

Right here's the deal (hey, I made the punneh)...
They are not open this Wednesday.
They are open this Thursday but theirs no hold'em
The free entry, 10euro buy ins are on the last thursday of the month.
Other then that there are 3 nights where its 15 or 20 euro in (and for rebuys) and you can find them listed here:

    http://www.fitzwilliamcardclub.com/tournaments.htm

So what I suggest is the regulars here meet up in my place about 7 and play some cards ourselves. 10 euro in, 10 for rebuys and we'll sort out how many of those you can have in the night on the night.

Hyzepher has chips but if anyone else has some bring them along.
Bring whiskey or beer if you like but anyone acting the knob will get my boot in their arse and ****ed out on their ear :)

Dev you are right about this week but wrong about the free-entry tourney's.
The free entries are on EVERY Thursday, except this Thurs, because it's New Years Day. These free entry games are a satellite to the €250, which is the last Thursday of each month.

If there's any room left at your table Tom, I'd like to come along too.
And I promise not to pass out on the stairs.

If there's still space at your table Dev I'll be up for this on thursday, I can bring my chips if needed,

Reminder to self: After last nights poker 8am finish, do not drink copious amounts of gin and keep checking time and saying "look, its 6am/7am/8am", also when henbane has the Big Tilt like never before seen, BE CAREFUL!

I would also join in if there is still space at the table.

I should be somewhat recovered from last night/this morning by then. Playing til 8 a.m. is awful tiring even when you got teh big tilt.

Count me out Dev. I'll have to wait till next time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,838 ✭✭✭DapperGent

Count me in, sounds like plenty of fun.

I'll have to head to work at 10pm or so unfortunately, but three hours of poker is better than none!

Is it a problem me having to go in the middle of a game? If not I'll be there, quite possibly with bells on.

Ok Muso catch you next time.
    Dapper, sounds good.
Looks like we have a full house (fnarrr!). We'll do this again soon anyway and maybe expand it two two tables who knows.

    DeV.
